05.06.13 | and the genre heavy metal AND electronic music AND punk was invented in70' so no. maybe u meant madonna? |
oltnabrick

PunchforPunch
05.06.13 | lionel richie > |
kitsch
05.06.13 | what does it matter if it was "invented" then (which is debatable)
the styles weren't fleshed out and perfected until the 80s, which had the bands that influence modern day bands. every metal band pays homage to black sabbath, but they have more immediate influences that have a larger impact on their sound.
EDM wasnt invented until the 80s bitch
and i wasnt talking about heavy metal i was talking about death and black metal which would be "extreme" metal if you wanna be gay and those are way more popular now worldwide and they were created in the 80s |
minorswing
05.06.13 | someone's sucked dick one too many times
because EDM and death metal arent influenced by 70' and are the two major genres today rite? |
omnipanzer
05.06.13 | can't have the 70's w/o the 60's and most of the music produced from the early 60's through the early 70's is far more iconic than almost anything that came after.
Beatles, Stones, The Kinks, Elvis, Tom Jones the list goes on and on. That's not to say some great shit didn't come out of the 70's but it would be easy to argue it isn't the best. |
Hyperion1001
05.06.13 | 80's > all |

bands from the 80s are BETTER sounding and directly influenced shit. you can make the argument youre making to say that fucking gregorian chant music influenced ambient |
oltnabrick

05.09.13 | 50s - Rock N Roll
60s - Revolutionary
70s - Exciting, Rocking, Genre Defining.
80s - Alternative Heaven
90s - Apathetic miserable youth culture bliss.
00s - All the above diluted. |
JokineAugustus
05.09.13 | I say late 90's, then 70's, then early 2000's. 2005 is when everything seemed to decrease in quality. |
minorswing
05.09.13 | finally people's talking |
zakalwe
05.09.13 | The music gets better for the most part.
I just miss the movements, the renegades, the shift in youth culture to galvanize the true massive
classic bands that would sell quarter of a million tickets, the music store excitement, the
everything else the internet killed by over saturation in an instant. Everything has become niche
there is nothing that unites. |
zakalwe
05.09.13 | 50s - Elvis, Rock N Roll
60s - Beatles, Hendrix, Woodstock.
70s - Zepplin, Birth of Metal, Height of Floyd/Prog, Punk.
80s - R.E.M, Alternative Rock, Hip Hop, The rise of Dance Culture/Electronic.
90s - Nirvana, Grunge, Oasis/ Britpop (Fucking Horrendous but a massive force for a few years)
00s - No innovators, 5min passing fads. Some all time classic albums though in fairness. |
minorswing
05.10.13 | 00s - years of nu metal, bubblegum pop, shitty bubblegum hip hop, some shitty post rock, shitty EDM. but there are some classic albums i agree, although the quantity and quality in general were diminishing |
zakalwe
05.10.13 | 00s was the era of the bastardisation of hip hop, metal, punk and pop. The quality took an almighty downturn definitely. |
minorswing
05.10.13 | agreed. and i dont even see any band/musician who will take the baton from heroes of the past. hell, even radiohead, pearl jam, metallica, u2 have turned shitty nowadays. and dont let me get started on the jazz and blues scenes.some indie bands are pretty cool though |
zakalwe
05.10.13 | I'm with you all the way minor. Maybe we are just miserable fuckers.
The passing of time makes the greats but I just can't see it currently. Everything is so diluted because there is a swathe of absolutely everything.
|
minorswing
05.10.13 | yeah, too many supplies too little demands. technology makes everything easier, but it also lowers the passing grade of quality of practically everything related to it |
