manosg
05.01.13 | Great list once again Jamie. I'll definitely check 3 and 7. Is 6 Gary Moore's band before Thin Lizzy? Also, 9's band name means death (Greek word written in Latin). |
JamieTwort
05.01.13 | "have seen 12 live and they were pretty good"
Sweet. 12 is easily their best release imo, it just seems to have more energy than their later stuff and the production is perfect. |
JamieTwort
05.01.13 | @Atari: Hope you enjoy the ones you check out.
@manosg: Thanks dude. Yeah 6 is Gary Moore's first band, well worth checking out. |
Atari
05.01.13 | for the first time ever, i'm more stoked to check the prog recs than the thrash. I know you already rec'd me #3 but i haven't been able to find a full stream yet, will continue the search |

05.01.13 | 4 is so fucking good
srsly dude check out High Speed and the Afflicted Man |
Atari
05.01.13 | as far as prog goes, i seem to be more into it when there are flutes, sax, or just jazz involved. |
JamieTwort
05.01.13 | "srsly dude check out High Speed and the Afflicted Man"
I jammed 1 of the tracks on youtube and it sounded great, haven't been able to find a download link yet but I'll definitely check out the whole album. |
Jethro42
05.01.13 | 3 and 7 are great stuff. Keep those lists going! |
JamieTwort
05.01.13 | "as far as prog goes, i seem to be more into it when there are flutes, sax, or just jazz involved."
7 might not be the sort of prog you particularly like as it's mostly instrumental with strong classical influences. You might still dig it though. |
JamieTwort
05.01.13 | @Jethro: Agreed, was listening to both of those on vinyl a few days ago. |
Atari
05.01.13 | oh i'll defnitely check it out for sure. really digging gentle giant and horslips though : ) |
JamieTwort
05.01.13 | Actually I take that back, there's some folk influences on 7 which I know is always a bonus for you, so it might be more your sort of thing than I implied. |
chemicalmarriage
05.01.13 | Was kinda trippin one time and listening to 2. Out of the blue I got emotional and called my sister who I hadn't talked to in a couple of years. I apologized for a bunch of shit and we've been close since then. I'll always love that album. |
JamieTwort
05.01.13 | Whoa, that album must have had a big impact on you. |
Atari
05.01.13 | listening to 7 now i'll let you know what i think. |

Atari
05.01.13 | dude it's sweet so far. not my fav thing i've heard from the genre but really solid. the melodies in either song 2 or 3 remind me of that horslips album actually. |

JamieTwort
05.02.13 | Yeah it's great. Some great flute playing on there. It also features Larry Coryell on guitar, who's one of my favourite fusion guitarists. |

05.03.13 | Picked up 4 and "Hissteria" yesterday, I still need to give them a spin though. |
Atari
05.03.13 | listening to 7 again man i love that melody the duh duh duh duh DUH DUH DUH. |
JamieTwort
05.03.13 | "Picked up 4 and "Hissteria" yesterday, I still need to give them a spin though."
Cool. 4 is very different to Water on Mars, a lot more noisy and distorted and it's more like a series of jams compared to the more song based WoM. Haven't heard Hissteria yet. The only other one of theirs I've heard is Public Service Announcement which I wasn't too keen on. |
JamieTwort
05.03.13 | @Atari: Sweet bro, yeah the melodies on that album are beautiful. |
Atari
05.03.13 | Agreed. It's at least a 4 but still digesting it. It's a lengthy album lol |
