Best Albums Of 2012
I know it's a little late for this, but better late than never, I guess. So, here's my top 18 (wtf?) list rof albums from that glorious year that was 2012. Welcome, and feel free to comment, and stuff. |
1 | | Deftones Koi No Yokan
Simple enough, this was their most expansive album since White Pony (I personally liked
Koi No Yokan a little more), it grows on me with each listen, that's how fucking great this
album is, nuff said. |
2 | | Between The Buried And Me The Parallax II: Future Sequence
I need no reason, it's BTBAM! |
3 | | Rush Clockwork Angels
When a band that's been around for over (or nearly, not a 100% sure) forty years can
make a record that has them still sounding fresh and on the top of their game, you
know that their album is going to end at least on your top 10 list. |
4 | | Soundgarden King Animal
Soundgarden is back, and they are firing all the cylinders with their newest effort, I loved
the more "somber" songwriting this time, and they sound as tight as bands can get this
days. |
5 | | Muse The 2nd Law
It's not my favorite Muse album, but I enjoyed the fuck out of this one, I loved the
diversity, and their willing to not do the same album twice, lots of good tunes. Standouts
like Supremacy, Panic Station, Animals and Madness could really become some of their
classics someday. |
6 | | Converge All We Love We Leave Behind
I can just say that I wasn't shocked when I heard this album and realized that it was
amazing. |
7 | | Gojira L'Enfant Sauvage
Progressive metal masters return with their best work to date, bringing an album full
of great tunes, tight sound and songwriting, and the list could go on. |
8 | | Coheed and Cambria The Afterman: Ascension
This album wasn't a game changer (but it ceirtanly wasn't the so-so effort named
Year Of The Black Rainbow), but it had lots of great tunes, and has one of my all time
favorite Coheed songs (Key Entity Extraction I: Domino The Destitute). |
9 | | Yellowcard Southern Air
Well, not too many albums get me emotional when I hear them, but this one was a
punch in the gut, the lyrics are amazing, the music and tunes are catchy and greatly
crafted, and I smiled like a kid on christmas when I heard "Always Summer", well
done, Yellowcard, well done. |
10 | | Architects Daybreaker
Let's just say that this album was a back to form for Architects, many fans know what I
mean. |
11 | | Periphery Periphery II: This Time It's Personal
Well, I love this band, what else can I say? |
12 | | Linkin Park Living Things
They brought back some of the elements that long time fans love, and messed with
them a bit combining them with their new sound, and made a pretty tight album. |
13 | | Billy Talent Dead Silence
I can definitely say that this band is on the top of their game with this album, it really
doesn't offer anything new, but it's a punk-pop album as tight as you get this days,
you can't ask for anything else. |
14 | | Stone Sour House Of Gold And Bones - Part 1
Great music, great lyrics, tight production, all in one neat little product, all in all great
effort from this hard rock masters (I can call them like that after this excellent
record). |
15 | | blink-182 Dogs Eating Dogs
This is one great little EP with some great tracks, and a newly re-aquired chemistry
between the members of the band. |
16 | | The Secret Agnus Dei
Well, this album kicked my nutsack (in a good way). |
17 | | Meshuggah Koloss
Another album that while more somber and slower, managed to kick my nutsack,
as well, also, we are talking about Meshuggah, for fuck's sake! |
18 | | Glass Cloud The Royal Thousand
Nothing new, but all in all a great debut with great tracks and great guitar playing,
especially. |
