SupercolliderMusic 03.28.13	I tried to include all of my post-rock bands, but I had to leave out a few albums to fit it into one list. I have a whole lot of post-rock on my iPod, since it's my favorite genre. I've heard Talk Talk, Mono, and so many other popular post-rock bands, but is there anything obscure or a great album that I haven't heard? Rec. me some stuff.

YankeeDudel 03.28.13	100 albums for one genre isnt that much at all. with a 160 gb ipod 100 albums is only about 8-10 gbs. but hey listen to set fire to flames, dirty three, worlds end girlfriend, hash jar tempo, rachel's, samuel jackson five, do make say think, labradford, gastr del sol, the for carnation, and jaga jazzist. not very obscure but you dont have em listed.

Relinquished 03.28.13	post-metal can mean that it's atmospheric sludge metal or metal influenced post-rock, which the latter would be them. but I see the former as the true meaning because even if at times they come close to sounding like something Isis would do in the Panopticon era, they don't sound like Celestial-era Isis.

Ecnalzen 03.28.13	Jizue is so good. I haven't heard Bookshelf yet, but Novel is fantastic. They have kind of a similar vibe to Toe. You might also try Gifts From Enola if you haven't heard them. From Fathoms and Loyal Eyes Betrayed The Mind are both pretty cool albums.

I love driving to post-rock, one of my favorites for an evening drive with the stars out, or in the rain. @RosaParks: I do... AS you can see from this list. Why wouldn't anyone else? I have 160 GB of room, and post rock is one of my favorite genres. Why wouldn't I include it in my portable collection? I have heard GIAA, Mono, Isis (on the post-metal side), tortoise, rachel, dirty three, do make say think, and some others, but I will check out the new recs. Thanks guys. This list took a while to type up and has a lot of good stuff. My favorite band right now is The American Dollar so they would be my top rec to you along with Brontide.

YankeeDudel 03.28.13	alach has a point tho the only time i really listen to post-rock is when im at home and just wanna chill. when i used to study or write papers it was good too. if im drivin or hittin the gym post-rock is the last thing i wanna hear, unless the sun is setting and lightning bugs are prancing around.

They have a lot of post-rock influence, but they definitely aren't just because of the extremely heavy sections they have in some of their songs. They have a different sound when compared to bands like Mogwai or GY!BE...

I just don't think they are anything special. I understand a lot of people like 'em though.
SupercolliderMusic 03.28.13	Also, I am still in high school and our teachers are pretty lenient when it comes to letting us listening to music. I jam post-rock pretty hard when I am doing some English, Chemistry, or Trig homework.

SupercolliderMusic 03.30.13	@minty901: I am glad you guys liked it! @StallionMang: I really like it. It pioneered the genre. it is different from a lot of the newer post-rock, but still very good. It's dark. If you can enjoy a dark brand of post-rock, you'll love it. Like minty901 said, you could try listening to Shipping News, first.

That TWDY s/t album is my favourite album of all time too ha - Caspian - Live at South Church (Free on Noisetrade btw - last track is the best thing ever) - At The End Of The Ocean - Pacific Atlantic (Free on bandcamp) - FareWell Poetry - Hoping For The Invisible to Ignite - Final Days Society - Ours Is Not A Caravan Of Despair - Her Name Is Calla - The Quiet Lamb - Immanu El - They'll Come, They Come - Lights Out Asia - Eyes Like Brontide - The Pirate Ship Quintet - Rope For No Hopers - Dirty Three - Ocean Songs - Kyte - Dead Waves (Bordering on Indie pop but still post rocky, one of my fav albums) Bear in mind loads of my other favs you mentioned or you'll probably have already heard (EF, rest of the Hammock discog, Laura ect)

JS19 03.30.13	Yeah Dirty Three is way more of an acquired taste than most of the rest of that list, but I'm lucky I learned to love it. Hopefully you'll enjoy some of those, but going by your list it should be right up your street
