03.14.13 | I don't think I've ever really planned what I'm wearing to a show. It's usually jeans and whatever shirt I picked up, I've probably ended up wearing a band's shirt at their show. I'd say, wear whatever floats your boat, I guess. |
Emyay
03.14.13 | I'm weird about it I think. I tend to overthink it even though no one cares. I'll be like "well I can't wear this Mastodon shirt to this Meshuggah show bc they aren't that similar. I'll go with Gojira" |
Sirob
03.14.13 | the rule is that you have to wear another bands shirt but it has to be 1 tier of pretentiousness above the band that you're seeing so people think youre cooler |
Emyay
03.14.13 | so for Meshuggah, what would be appropriate? What would be appropriate for Opeth? |
CrimsonLies
03.14.13 | Who cares? I don't see the big deal about it. If someone had a problem if I ever were to do that then it will remain their problem, not mine. |

03.14.13 | When I go to a concert, I just wear whatever it was I was wearing earlier that day. I never "dress up" to go to concerts. I'm going to be the dweebiest looking kid ad Death to All |

03.14.13 | ive never bought a band shirt ever so I wouldnt know. seems like itd be the same as wearing a jersey to the ballgame so why not. although I could see it being a little tacky and fanboyish or somethin. |

03.14.13 | I normally do if I am going to that bands show. |
Emyay
03.14.13 | "although I could see it being a little tacky and fanboyish or somethin."
thats why i figured it was a no-no |
CrimsonLies
03.14.13 | I did and I think you're just over thinking it. Having rules like this just seems stupid to me, I'd wear whatever I want and not care what others think. If I wore a shirt of a band I'm seeing it's either to support the band or I just so happen to want to wear it that day. I suppose a reason why I'd wear a different band shirt with a proper reason is to let others know that I also dig a particular band. Like I saw some guy wear a Converge shirt at a local show and thought to myself "Hey I also like that band". |
CrimsonLies
03.14.13 | But I usually don't wear band shirts to concerts anyway so it doesn't really apply to me |
slimdaddy
03.14.13 | actually, what you said one number 1 is the general rule of thumb for me. I have to own the shirt before I go to the concert, I hate when everyone and their brother has the same shirt as me. |
Emyay
03.14.13 | "I suppose a reason why I'd wear a different band shirt with a proper reason is to let others know that I also dig a particular band."
yeah man, i've made a bunch of friends this way. if i see someone with a cool band shirt on, thats easy for me to strike up a convo. i see you in an opeth shirt at an opeth gig, the fuck am i supposed to say, "opeth are awesome!" ? "uhh no shit they are, we're both at the fucking show you dimwit." then i look like a huge fucking asshole. well fuck that. |
AliW1993
03.14.13 | I don't see the big deal either way. If I own a t-shirt from a band I'm seeing I'll usually wear it, but only to show support etc, not to fit in or look elite or any bullshit like that. If I buy one at the show in question, I'll usually slip it over whatever I'm wearing so I don't have to carry it. |
Blackbelt54
03.14.13 | I personally like to wear a shirt of a band of a completely different genre than the one I'm seeing, that way if someone says something about my shirt, I know they probably like all kinds of music, not just one type, so they're more fun to talk to |
Emyay

mindleviticus
03.14.13 | it doesn't matter what you wear |
CrimsonLies
03.14.13 | Haha well I see your point of view, I guess it can come of as a fan boy thing to do since it's obvious as fuck that you like the band since you're seeing them. And agreed, it's a really easy way to meet people, it's like I automatically feel like I'm on good terms with them lol. |

i'm not too worried about what the band thinks. they could give two shits about little ol' me.
"yeah, I saw a guy rocking a Lady Gaga shirt at a metal concert a few months back. thought that was great m/"
ehhh i bet that dude was just trying to be "ironic" if he's really digging Lady Gaga then i guess thats cool. i'm not THAT into her so it wouldn't really peak my interest, but i still think the original idea is a good one. mix it up, let people know you're into other shit.

bc Miami Dolphins wow!! is the fucking list of the century, get outta here balls |
XingKing
03.14.13 | Personally, I think people who wear said bands shirt are complete gaylords. It's even worse if you just bought the shirt from their merch table and are now wearing it. I can't explain why I hate it, but it seems so fucking lame and you're already at the show, so no shit you're supporting them. If I am actually paying attention to what I am wearing, which is never, then I'll just wear a shirt for a similar artist. Like when I wear my Modern Life is War or Have Heart shirts to shows, it gets people talking to me because they are familiar with the band and it gets us talking on what other hardcore we like |
Emyay

DarkSideOfLucca
03.14.13 | @Xing, well I usually buy my shirt in the middle of the show because at the end I'm trying to get the fuck out and catch the first train, and if I'm just holding onto a shirt I usually just put it over the shirt I'm already wearing so I can mosh and whatnot...I don't see why that would be perceived as annoying. |

03.14.13 | LOVE LOVE LOVE 10. Dead End Kings is a wonderful album.
I usually buy my shirt as soon as I get to the show (all the smaller sizes go fast), but I rarely put it on until after the show.
And then I cut out the neck and sleeves, but that's beside the point. |

What do you do with it during the show? I've tied mine around my waste before.
|
Kimm
03.14.13 | Around your waste? Gross. Probably around your waist would be a better alternative.
I always throw it with my purse/bag/backpack that I've left at the bag-check area. You know...give them two bucks and your bag, get your claim tag, pick your stuff up at the end of the night. |
Emyay
03.14.13 | lol oops. yeah mad gross. i never bring a bag or anything, but also a good idea. |
DarkSideOfLucca
03.14.13 | I don't know, it's just more comfortable to just wear it especially if I don't HAVE to pay a few extra bucks to put it away. I never really think about it that much, it's not so I can show off my cool new shirt it's entirely out of convenience/not thinking people cared about this shit |
Hyperion1001
03.14.13 | if you have to ask then dont go to concerts |

DarkSideOfLucca
03.14.13 | I usually go to concerts in New York City cause I live around there, pretty much every venue I've been to in the city has bag checks but they tend to have annoyingly long lines and are stupidly priced, kind of like the alcohol |
Jellingman
03.14.13 | I don't care for band tees. The only band t-shirt I really hate is the obligatory Joy Division's Unknown Pleasure t-shirt, which shows up at EVERY single concert I go to. Always worn just to show everyone how "awesome" and "unique" their taste in music is. |
spillingmercury
03.14.13 | what
i don't understand
why do you care
usually you'd wear previous tour shirts to show that you're not new to the band/their live sets, so you got like, seniority or whatever. I don't think anyone gives af if you wear shirts from the merch table that day. I imagine wearing shit in their genre would also mean you're somewhat subscribed to their scene??? Usually if i look at other people's band tees i'm scouting out what kind of scene that person came from and how elite my tastes probably are compared to them. |

03.14.13 | if it's for the current album that the artist is touring on, it makes you look like you just bought a shirt from the merch table to fit in. only wear a band's shirt at the show if it's not new is the way I look at it |

Definitely.
"You made a list about what clothing you should wear to a concert. If you need to be questioned about the retardedness about this "
I know this. I know its retarded, but it's something that I think about. I don't really care that it's retarded. It's not something i'm "oh my fucking god i'm so worried about this...plz guys help!!" its more just something that I ponder while i'm at a show or going to a show or whatever. If it comes down to brass tacks, I'm going to a show because I want to see the bands. Period. But this is the internet |

Yes. Did I give an acceptable answer this time |
CrownOfMagnets
03.14.13 | My friend wore an Of Monsters and Men shirt to an Of Mice and Men show just to piss all the hardcore scene kids off hehe. I think you're over thinking it but personally if I have a shirt of the band I've bought tickets to see I will throw it on because why not? Or sometimes I go to the show and after the band plays I'll buy a shirt and wear it the next day as a way of saying "look what band I saw last night, bitches." |
