| 15 Best Metal This Year
I'm not happy with my 07 list so I'm splitting up the thing into 2 lists, metal and non-metal. | | 1 | | Wolves In the Throne Room Two Hunters
Amazing black metal that greatly perfected from their last release. | | 2 | | Drudkh Estrangement
Drudkh as always deliver a superb slab of atmospheric black metal. | | 3 | | Primordial To the Nameless Dead
With this release Primordial sound as powerful as ever, vocals improved a lot too. | | 4 | | Moonsorrow V: Havitetty
Excellent viking metal, even if the songs are extremely long! | | 5 | | Sigh Hangman's Hymn
Different, crazy and wonderful, I just can't get enough of this album. | | 6 | | Thurisaz Circadian Rhythm
A very high quality release from these Belgians, with great varied vocals and awesome keyboards. | | 7 | | Kroda ??????? ????
Pagans have a way of making some super black metal, and with this release Kroda prove they still have it. | | 8 | | Neurosis Given to the Rising
Crushing and at times even awe inspiring, an excellent post-metal album. | | 9 | | Lunar Aurora Andacht
Lunar Aurora stay consistent as always, too bad we won't be hearing this band put out more superb black metal for awhile. | | 10 | | Ensiferum Victory Songs
Even with Jari gone Ensiferum can still make some great, catchy viking metal. | | 11 | | Monstrosity Spiritual Apocalypse
Awesome death metal, great vocals and very good drumming. | | 12 | | Vintersorg Solens Rotter
More folk influenced then some of there more recent albums, and it turned out very nice. | | 13 | | Kauan Lumikurro
A rather unknown gem with some seriously good folk influences without overdoing it. | | 14 | | Iced Earth Framing Armageddon (Something Wicked Pt. 1)
Stormripper proves he has some great vocals and that Iced Earth have not lost it. | | 15 | | Astrofaes Idea. Form. Essence...
Just got this today but it's really great. A side project of Drudkh's Thurios that goes in a more raw direction than Drudkh. | |

12.15.07 | 4 and 11 were excellent. 10 was pretty good. 14 was disappointing for me. I've been meaning to look into 2, 3, 5, and 12 for a while now. I would probably have included the Chemins de Souffrance (Belenos) and Det Vilde Kor (Lumsk).
You might want to take a look at my latest list. There's a lot of unknown stuff in there I think you'd like. | Angmar
12.15.07 | Yeah I haven't heard that Belenos album. I know pretty much all of that stuff on your list, good stuff.
;) | jrowa001

12.15.07 | Yeah, 1-5 are sick although I need 2, 4, and 5. 6 is pretty cool, and if 7 is like Kampfar then Ill check it out. | Dis_Con_Nec_Ted
12.15.07 | 1 is pretty amazing. | Mikesn

12.15.07 | Yeah I know =/ I don't even know what to think.... | Thor
12.15.07 | Victory Songs was pretty sick.
Framing Armageddon was a let-down as a whole, but there's some kick ass songs here and there. | Cesar
12.15.07 | Lacks Nightwish | Zoo
12.15.07 | And for good reason: it doesn't deserve to be here. | Bfhurricane
12.16.07 | 16 would have been Colors right? | Angmar
12.16.07 | Ehh, Colors didn't excite me very much, it had a really out of place moments but overall it was still enjoyable. | LifeInABox
