Vertikal is the best thing ever

so Vertikal is fucking awesome and it might be my 2nd favorite CoL behind SatH fuck I cannot get over how un-disappointed I am in this album holy shitballs
1Cult of Luna
Vertikal

Mute Departure - one of the best post-metal songs I've heard in a very, very long time. beautiful, sad, crushing, and totally Cult of Luna, this is probably the band's best incorporation of ambient elements in a song to date. also, the ending levels cities.
2Cult of Luna
Vertikal

I: The Weapon - the catchiest fucking post-metal song ever made, and that's all there is to be said about this song.
3Cult of Luna
Vertikal

Vicarious Redemption - the fact that its first 4 minutes are an ambient build is a bit irksome, but the song more than makes up for it. crushing riffs? check. a stunningly heavy ending worthy (but not quite touching) Ghost Trail? check. fucking *wubs*? fucking *check*. snox, shut your face.
4Cult of Luna
Vertikal

In Awe Of - the main riff is absolutely crushing, and the song as a whole brings to mind The Beyond more than anything else here.
5Cult of Luna
Vertikal

Passing Through - it's not And With Her Came the Birds, but this is still a stunningly beautiful song. I sometimes forget how well these guys can pull off cleans.
6Cult of Luna
Vertikal

Synchronicity - heavy and dissonant and shit, but it's the weakest of the "real" tracks here imo. it's still great though. there's some cool riffage going on here.
7Cult of Luna
Vertikal

The Sweep - their best interlude-ish song since Marching to the Heartbeats (although Heartbeats is the best intro/interlude/outro song ever made so it's still not quite on that level)
8Cult of Luna
Vertikal

The One (Disharmonia is 45 seconds long and doesn't count)
9Cult of Luna
The Beyond

The Watchtower - dat bass
10Cult of Luna
Salvation

Leave Me Here - the main riff makes me want to smash things
11Cult of Luna
Somewhere Along the Highway

Dark City, Dead Man - most epic song ever? yeah, probably
12Cult of Luna
Eternal Kingdom

Ghost Trail - the first time I listened to this, I literally almost fell out of my seat when the final heavy bit kicked in
