01.03.13 | As I continue to reflect I can honestly say that I have no regrets about how my life turned out and who I became as a person. I can look in the mirror with pride and dignity at who I've become and what I have done in this lifetime and so I would not fear tomorrow's departure..I've done pretty much everything I've wanted to do or achieve. I've been a good person to animals, people and the earth. I've been a good son, a good brother and a good boyfriend and even though I've made mistakes and I've wasted my parent's money on college among other things I have no regrets. I don't think about what I could have done or should have done. Experiencing the good and the bad times have defined who I am.
As for death I am a pretty romantic person. As someone with a spiritual afinity to the sea, a deep fascination with the Titanic and pondering my friend's mysterious passing in the Bermuda triangle I would wake up one morning. Send a note to the few people I'm close too and proceed to take a boat out to the North Atlantic ocean where my boat would begin to slowly sink in the afternoon in silence. I'd drink some iced tea then I'd lie back and stare at the sky and smell the ocean for a bit, feel the wind and just begin to drift off into a deep sleep as my boat becomes submerged. |

people just dont know how to be happy anymore on their own. so you have a shitty job, your gf left you, and whatever the fuck else is making you unhappy but you're fuckin alive aintcha? you realize how many things over millions of years had to go down perfectly in order for you to exist the way you are now at all? i say achieve in the material world enough to be able to live comfortably, but achieving spiritually and just enjoying life is the most important to me. otherwise whats the fuckin point? too many people miss the boat. |

the simplest way towards self realization is from the great sage Ramana Maharshi. ask yourself "who am i?" and see what happens. its a question that is impossible to answer. all that can come up is a presently arising thought. maybe your name. you'll come to see that what you really are is ultimate conscious awareness that no thought can touch. once you realize this you will be free. /spiritualmumbojumbo |

Not sure that I fear it as such, I've thought about it a lot over the years and it's not the most comfortable subject ever, but generally I take a fuck you attitude towards it, although I'm more easy on the idea now, more settled maybe. My only fear - and it's more like abject terror - when it comes to death is the chance of it being something like dementia, where in the end I'm not myself. I would rather suffer physical pain and go into darkness with my last thoughts being about good friends and good times. If I had to choose how I would die, and the options were limitless, I guess I'd like to go helping someone out, squeeze a last morsel of meaning out of life. If it had to be illness or the like, then as long as I had at least one friend with me I would be all good. I'd tell them I was glad we hit the earth at the same time and ask them to raise a glass for me once in awhile. |

01.03.13 | No Rosa. When I say mind I mean thoughts, emotions, feelings. Basically anything you can "see". Most people are so wrapped up in those that it hurts them. If you meditate or just learn about spiritual practices/philosophies you will come to know that those things are only small parts of you. They are like waves of clouds and you are the sky. The sky never changes, only the clouds.
So what you really are is consciousness. Consciousness that science still isnt sure where it comes from. Consciousness that has allowed people in near death experiences to know whats going on down the hall in a hospital (if there is an after life, it has something to do with what Im sayin). Consciousness (sky) that is aware of all thoughts (clouds). THATS who you really are and THAT is untouchable. Your mind is an important tool of consciousness, but it is not the master. Thats pretty much the basics of zen, and once you really see that you realize nothing can touch you, not even physical pain. |

01.03.13 | I have one question about the Heaven. Do aborted fetuses go there? If so they're gonna be angry. |

01.03.13 | I'm just gonna go ahead and ignore everything that happened here and answer the question Wehrmacht style: I'd tell death to suck it and get himself another bitch before I need to get the gas. |

01.03.13 | No way would I want to die RIGHT now. Have a lot of things to accomplish, and still need to find a girlfriend for my girlfriend and I.
In short I've got some fun shit to live for, who'd want to leave all that early? |
Wolfhorde
01.03.13 | thanks wolfebro |
BallsToTheWall
01.03.13 | Depends. I'd just prefer to slowly fade out of view. Make all social contact with my family in particular minimal. |
Wolfhorde
01.03.13 | "and still need to find a girlfriend for my girlfriend and I."
Is it just me being groggy or does this sound strange. |

01.03.13 | "It's up to you to change that. For about 21 years I felt like a worthless piece of shit. Then I started making things better
for myself."
I know this was from way at the top of the thread but I can relate with this so hard. I was the same way until New Years
Eve two years ago (Aids was there!!!) and I said "fuck it, im going to make all the things I want to happen in my life
happen" and since then i've done so many of the things i've always wanted to accomplish in my life. I wouldn't change a
thing in my life and I don't regret anything i've done because it's all led me to here and I couldn't ask for a better life right
now. The only thing i'd be worried about leaving behind would be my girlfriend. As for how I was to go, i'd really just want
to go peacefully in my sleep or something, and i'd make sure my loved ones put my ashes in a few various places that are
important to me, and yes I want some of my ashes poured out of a aeroplane above the sea |

01.03.13 | Can't say I regret too many things in my life so far but I would be a little perturbed if I die right now. What I really want to accomplish in my life is acquiring a successful job where I can provide for a family and raise some kids-my parents have been involved in an incredibly acrimonious divorce for as long as I can remember and it'd be nice to raise a family where there isn't that kind of all-consuming hostility. Plus I want to make enough $$ where I can retire early and enjoy things. |

01.03.13 | Hey OJ Simpson, are you content with your wife?
No
So why don't you do something about it?
OK |
wabbit
01.03.13 | I've got a really good job but I really didn't get it under my own merit and I think that will eventually drive me to quit it and do something else.
Probably should have finished school but I was simply could not summon the force of will to do it. I'm sure I'll regret that later on but I was at a different place in my life and hindsight is 20-20 (my vision is 20-10 though so I dunno).
I've got good friends a great family and I'm a person people generally seem to want to be around.
Obv my taste in music is god-tier.

01.03.13 | no |

01.03.13 | Yeah people should get a degree. I just grew up with almost all my family/ family friends being teachers and principals and I spent all my school years listening to teachers say "Miles is so smart, he'd make such a good teacher" (cause I probably would). But then I got to university and realized that I had this tunnel vision and once that disappeared the idea of "academics" just made me sick. So I passed all my courses (barely) and quit.
Also that thing where people say "if you take a year off, going back is one of the hardest things to do" is so fucking true. |
wabbit
01.03.13 | So yeah I guess I'm not super content with my life right now (it's super easy/ fun but not that rewarding) and dying would suck. But I know I'll end up okay because I want to. |
klap
01.03.13 | miles do you mean tunnel vision in regards to being a teacher or in regards to graduating in general |
