In which Acanthus is filled with a love for downtempo and alternative

Possibly better than Fantasies, which is shocking. For all the calls of being inconstant I really enjoy almost every song, though the first half of the album is

Rise of a Digital Nation
The surprise of the year for me, liking this album. I'd heard about them before but
the lead singers voice never really clicked until I heard "Angels" (it also helpe that
they put their banner/tracks on TPB, props for that). The lyricism is ambiguous and
fits many instances without being pigeon holed into a "gamer only" corner, and the
guys really know how to play their instruments. | | 3 |  | GRiZ
Mad Liberation
Dubstep I thoroughly enjoy. He went out and made music he wanted to hear, then
released it for free. Not Skrillex-y, not like Benga. More of a bass and funk mixture,

Soul Alert
Jazz metal man. Sometimes this reminds me of anime, sometimes video games
("Lazy Boy" especially) and other's lounge music ("K2" was used in one of my more
recent mixes, loved how it flows). Really fun, hit me at a time where it would

WAAAHHHHH they're not industrial anymore! Shut the fuck up and sit down. Rather
than fade into irrelevancy the guys over at FLA decided to do some soundtrack
work using a different genre and pulled it off quite well. It's heartening to see industrial bands innovate, rather than continue to repeat the same sound. | | 7 |  | Lindsey Stirling

When I first heard this on Pandora I immediately had to smile, melding violin and
electronic elements was just too cool. Interestingly enough this IS gimmicky, but it
works. Ms Sterling could have easily opted for a more minimal approach and garned
a more underground following, but opted for a wider audience with her dubstep

Form Follows Function
I like to call these guys progressive trance, but they're a bit psychedelic too. One
of my favorite bands to play at festivals, highly recommend most of their work if

Finally a C&C album I can get into, the last two really weren't my thing. Sadly
missed out on seeing them live, but I really enjoy this and eagerly await the second

Catchy, yet not like the previous album. A change at the height of popularity, I

released this year.
Only the first two slots are in order, I enjoy many things almost equally.
