Jash's 2012 Pt. 1 - Disappointments

Here's pt 1 of my year end wrap up. These were albums I was super stoked on a didn't end up coming close to my expectations. Young Buck out
1Big Boi
Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors

I was expecting him to carry on killin it like he was on the last album but instead, due mainly to the
production, he releases an inconsistent mess of an album. As far as the man himself, his skills on
the mic are the only thing keeping the album slightly afloat. I just wanted another Daddy Fat Sax...
2Converge
All We Love We Leave Behind

First off, this isn't a bad album by any means, I do enjoy it. Though I was expecting a little more
from these guys, they've pushed the envelope their whole career and this album just feels "safe" to
me, good thing "safe" in Converge standards still means a great record
3Purity Ring
Shrines

After hearing the first few tracks before its release I was super excited, but when I got my hands on
the full album I found it to be very one dimensional and boring. I really think they have potential so
we'll see what happens next time around.
4Bat For Lashes
The Haunted Man

I've always loved Natasha, Two Suns was one of my favorite releases of its year. After hearing
"Laura" I was left pick my jaw up off the floor and starting to figure out how I was going to handle
her out doing herself once again. Turns out, "Laura" was the only place where any special happens
throughout the whole album.
5Dark Time Sunshine
ANX

I don't really know what happened with this one, again I do enjoy this album, but for some reason I
felt so let down in comparison to their last amazing outing. Everything is here, good flow good lines
and cool beats, what am I missing???
6Lana Del Rey
Born To Die

Okay, I heard "Video Games" near the end of 2011 and was instantly won over by the voice, the
lyrics, the style. Next it was "Diet Mtn Dew" and "Blue Jeans", mind still being blown. Fast forward
to the album drop, I'm so excited its not even funny. Press play for the first time and by the end of
it I was questioning why I ever liked her in the first place. Milking all she can out of her image the
album doesn't sound sincere like "Video Games" did when it first dropped.
