The Mars Volta Ranked

Mhm, not a hole lot going on for me right now so I was like "why the fuck not" since I've been fairly obssesed with Volta for a little while.
1The Mars Volta
Frances The Mute

Their most difficult to get into, being filled with ambient sections that go on for nearly 4 minutes(straight for minutes counting the title track), but every second is rewarding. Full of frenetic riffs and high octane moments(Cygnus, Cassandra) as well as tender and geniunely beautiful moments(Miranda, The Widow, Cygnus) and even mysterious and rather chilling moments(L'Via, Miranda, Cassandra), it's not a record for everyone, but one that anyone who embraces, will never forget(5.0).
2The Mars Volta
De-Loused In the Comatorium

Yeah. A hell of a lot more accessible than 1, only a handful of ambience, and sometimes almost too planned and meticulous, something you would never expect from the guys from At the Drive-In(Take a look at their old live concerts. You'll see what I mean), however, there is every bit as much passion in this as there is in 1. There is an undeniable feeling of "fucking around" behind this album, which has caused it to be dismissed by many hardcore Volta fans as them just finding the correct path to what would eventually become frances, and that may very well be true. However, this is still an album that deserves a chance, and if you have any intention of digging the Mars Volta, this is the place to start(4.0)
3The Mars Volta
Noctourniquet

I'm gonna get a lot of shit for this, but well, what do you want me to say. It's true, this maybe their "poppiest" record to date, but hell, if they make another album I wouldn't mind if they keep this direction. Just a little practice on dynamics(because they don't very interested in working with each other anymore), and it should be fine(4.0)
4The Mars Volta
The Bedlam in Goliath

It would be higher if Cedric's voice wasn't so fucking annoying in here, with like a hundred layers on them. Still, heavy frenetic musicianship is more than enough to sustain it. Would be at least 4.0 if it wasn't for the vocals(3.5)
5The Mars Volta
Octahedron

Pretty good, nothing really special, but seeing them try to tackle a territory like this is interesting to me(3.5)
6The Mars Volta
Amputechture

(Haven't heard)
