12.04.12 | I ruined my bose ear buds in the washing machine, but I think i'm gonna get some over ears soon. Feel like it's a definite upgrade |

Best set I've ever owned. I can't fucking stand over the ear headphones. |
klap
12.04.12 | the only time i wear headphones is when i'm at the gym or in the library and i look like a huge goon with over-the-head headphones in either location so buds |

I use my bad ass speakers when I'm on the computer. So I have no reason to ever use over ear. |
wabbit
12.04.12 | I like good over ears more than speakers (at least for personal use). Except the beatles the beatles gotta be through speakers. |
DrMaximus
12.04.12 | Agreed with ChopSuey |
tommygun
12.04.12 | I have some sennheiser buds for exercising, mostly running
they're really great for that, they block out most road noise and are really comfortable and have great sound
also they stay put for an hour of running without me having to touch them so that's a big plus
at home I usually just listen through speakers |
climactic
12.04.12 | over ear headphones are inherently better |
ThroneOfAgony
12.04.12 | Over the ear, they are just more comfortable. In ears piss me off and afterwards my ears are either a. killing me, or b. doused in earwax |
menawati
12.04.12 | over at home
noise blocking in ear things travelling, the ones with the hard foam stuff that gets disgusting covered in ear wax after a few weeks |
Gwyn.
12.04.12 | Yeah, I hate that shit.
And a lot of earbuds have to be placed in very akward, uncomfortable positions. |
ChopSuey
12.04.12 | "I use my bad ass speakers when I'm on the computer. So I have no reason to ever use over ear."
"Agreed with ChopSuey"
yeah I like using the in ear buds for traveling instead of the other. I'd feel stupid wearing the over the ear headphones or those giant Beats headphones walking outside or something like that. |
menawati
12.04.12 | "And a lot of earbuds have to be placed in very akward, uncomfortable positions."
i tend to stick to the earholes but whatever turns you on dude |
Gwyn.
12.04.12 | lmao |
toxin.
12.04.12 | overear, earbuds are uncomfortable in my ear. I haven't really worn good earbuds so idk, but I imagine
they have worse sound quality too |
savagecabbage
12.04.12 | For full action and mobility I choose earbuds. When I have to face the day and conquer many an obstacle these are the weapon of choice for me to blast through the opposition and many a competitor. When I'm sittin around with nothin happenin Headphones are the best. |
KangarooSong
12.04.12 | I usually always use my Koss over-ear headphones if I'm trying to enjoy my music but in-ear are much better when I'm walking places or listening to music while I fall asleep. Or if my roommates are being assholes and I need to block them out, in-ear work best for sound isolation. |
UnnamedOcean
12.04.12 | Depends on what I'm doing. Over the ear when I'm walking around with my mp3 player, but I often use my AT studio headphones at home. |
Chortles
12.04.12 | over ear but i wear my cheap in ears when i'm out and about |
Vespiion
12.04.12 | Damn, I guess I'm in the minority. I love in-ear. If you can find the right tip-size, comfort really isn't an issue. |
bloc
12.04.12 | I have both but the quality of on-ears just cannot be beaten. I try to use them as much as I can. If I'm going for a bit of subtly or need something compact, I grab the in-ears. |
toxin.
12.04.12 | "in-ear work best for sound isolation"
??? can't hear anything when using my brother's headphones
they're fairly expensive though, prob not in everyone's budget |
DrMaximus
12.04.12 | "yeah I like using the in ear buds for traveling instead of the other. I'd feel stupid wearing the over the ear headphones or those giant Beats headphones walking outside or something like that."
Yeah, I know what you mean. It looks weird wearing big ass over the ear headphones. I wear those inside, and ear buds outside.

12.04.12 | I like IEM's best. They strike the most balanced sound. Over the ear monitors tend to be a bit bass heavy for my taste. IEM's with molded earpieces seem to give the most accurate sound reproduction. |
savagecabbage
12.04.12 | Have you considered listening to the sound of me kicking your fathers ass? Rather revealing if I must say |
tommygun
12.04.12 | with earbuds it's just a matter of finding the right fit
the sennheiser ones come with three different sized rubber tips so you can get it just right
I've worn mine for the entirety of 12 hour plane flights (with the exception of a few minutes here and there for eating/toilet breaks) and still been totally comfortable
I also quite often fall asleep with them in and wake up next morning completely fine |

might save up and get a good set of overears for at home, my neighbours would probably appreciate it |

12.04.12 | im about to buy new headphones and can't decide on what i want pls halp (in-ear, on-ear, over-ear, next-to-my-based-ear) |
AtomicWaste
12.04.12 | In-ear have always hurt my ears and given me terrible sores. Over-ear give pretty much the same performance (if not significantly better). If appearance is an issue, try getting some small, ear-clipped over-ear headphones. They're like buds in that they dangle and are small, but they go over the ear and have a piece of plastic that just holds on to your ear.
I switch between those and my 2 sets of big padded headphones depending on the situation. |
Animus
12.04.12 | Over ear, ATH-M50's. |
Funeralopolis
12.04.12 | over the ear is obviously much better quality but they look stupid imo |

12.04.12 | Klipsch in-ears>>>>everything else
Feels like the music is playing in my head |
clercqie
12.04.12 | I use over-ears because they're much comfortable, and less dangerous for damaging my hearing (which is already fucked, but oh well).
Oh, my DT770s make for some great ear muffs as well, when it's cold outside! |
bakkermaarten007
12.04.12 | "Oh, my DT770s make for some great ear muffs as well, when it's cold outside!"
Those look like you need an amp for them, right? That's a lot to carry when on the go. |
Animus
12.04.12 | If anyone year says Beats, I will find and bitch slap them.
And headphone amps aren't much to carry around, look at a Fiio e5 |
bakkermaarten007
12.04.12 | Add a pair of over ears to that and compare it to a pmp with tiny Klipsch Image S4's and the difference is quite big =). I'm planning on buying a high-end pair of headphones (over or on ear) but only for indoor use. |
clercqie
12.04.12 | "Those look like you need an amp for them, right? That's a lot to carry when on the go."
They work fine without an amp though. I have the 80ohm version. |
omnipanzer
12.04.12 | I love both, it depends on the usage. Buds for travel/working out and over ear for serious music listening at home. If you are looking to spend a good chunk I would get a great pair of cans for when it counts an a $30 pair of buds for out and about. I have a pair of Beats in ear but they were a gift. I love them but I can't in good conscience rec them considering their price point. |
