Wasting Electricity

In the deep mists of time that are yesterday, all the talk was of hiding for dear life from the superfrankenfragelisticexpialidownpour that was swirling our way from the briny deep and bracing for, at minimum, a few days sans power. Well, in Baltimore, it seems like we lucked out, but that didn't stop me from spending what very probably could have proven to be my final few hours with electricity (for quite a while) marathoning horror(ish) movies and albums.
1Do Make Say Think
Other Truths

The Nightmare Before Christmas - Just dipping my toes into the Halloween spirit
with this one, really, which I hadn't seen in years. To tell the truth, it's a lot
flimsier than my 90s self remembers it being, but that doesn't do anything to
undercut the still-great Oogie Boogie.
2M83
Saturdays=Youth

[Rec] - Really, really good. That final 10 minutes in particular is fantastic. I
typically hate horror movie sequels, but in spite of myself I'm tempted to check out
[Rec]2. (The DVD cover alone for the third, however, is proof enough that I don't
need to lose a second's thought debating whether to see it.)
3Further Seems Forever
The Moon is Down

Bug - More of a psychological drama than a horror movie, I guess, but still pretty
seriously unsettling, especially the reliably is-this-guy-actually-a-human?
performance from Michael Shannon.
4Diiv
Oshin

The Descent - For a long time, I consistently got this movie confused with The
Cave. I'm sincerely sorry to The Descent for that.
5How to Dress Well
Total Loss

The Crazies - As soon as you cast Timothy Olyphant as any sort of law
enforcement (see: Deadwood, Justified, Stop-Loss [sorta]), you've got a tried-and-
true recipe for success. Add in that awesome carwash sequence (with its
hilariously devastating tag), and that's almost all you need.
6Architects
Daybreaker

On-deck movies: The Host, Frailty, The Changeling, The Tunnel, probably more,
recs welcome
