10.24.12 | I made the switch to Bose about 1 year and a half ago, and I've been using the Bose IE2 since. Can't complain: sound's amazing, I love the design and they're really comfortable - really. Only thing though, they exceed your price range by about 20-25 bucks. They're about 105-110$. |

10.24.12 | Yeah, I have the ATH M50s. It made a massive difference when I upgraded from the old $10 headphones I used to have. You don't really notice until you've listened to something on good headphones, but there's a whole lot of detail and clarity you are missing out on unless you get some more pricey headphones. It makes pretty much everything more pleasurable, unless you are dealing with a really horribly mixed and mastered album. |
Emyay
10.24.12 | how do the m30s compare to the m50? just got the m30 because of that super cheap deal on amazon (thanks) |

I'll agree they have great systems for getting terrific sound with movies. But music-wise, nuh-uh. B&W all the way. |
Azn.
10.24.12 | Go with these companies:
Sennheiser, Audiotechnica, Bose
Also beats, but jk because beats fucking blow |

10.24.12 | "I have the sennheiser cx300 II buds, if you want a cheaper pair they go for about $35"
Yeah, these are very good as well for their price.
Either go with the Klipsch Image S4, Sennheiser CX300 II (or CX400) or Etymotic HF5. These should all be within your price range. |
betlwedl
10.24.12 | Klipsch Image S4s if you want a bassier tone or Head-Direct RE0s if you want a clearer tone. Both are excellent and around $80. |

10.24.12 | Beats are overrated and over priced for the quality. I mean, it's nice to see decent headphones that aren't crappy earbuds popular, but they are more trendy than anything else. |

10.25.12 | @Hyperion Nah bro I'm not nearly alpha enough for that :(
So yeah the I ordered the Klipsch. Thanks again. |
bakkermaarten007
10.25.12 | You won't regret it. Just don't be rough with the cable, it's quite thin. That is the only flaw I can
think about. Once you find the right size of earplugs for your ears their comfort is unmatched (as far
as in-ears go). And of course you'll need to let them burn in for 50 hours or so before you get the
best quality sound out of them. |
Winrar
10.25.12 | A bit late, but you should seriously do some research or provide some information before you ask a question like this.
Different headphones go for different people, whether you're looking for open/closed, compact or comfortable headphones. For example: the ATH M50s are great headphones for it's price range but i personally think they suck dick because of the design and how uncomfortable they are.
Also, the skullcandy hate here is pretty funny. They serve their niche well and people will hate them to feel elite and educated. |
Polyethylene
10.25.12 | AKGs are amazing, if you can find a pair of over-ears for as cheap as I did then you'll die a happy man. |

10.25.12 | The amount of brand loyalty in this thread. |
Wafflez
10.25.12 | The problem is Winrar I literally don't have a clue where to even get started. IS there was some sort
of "Headphones for dummies" guide that you're suppose to read .-. . This is probably the sort of thing
you pick up over time. But yeah I checked out reviews for most thing suggested here. Otherwise I'm not
sure how exactly I can research on the matter. And what kind of information should I provide I'm not
sure :( |
clercqie
10.25.12 | Just go to a store where they sell headphones, and try a few out. Plain and simple. |
Timmons
10.25.12 | this thread convinced me to get some Klipsch s4's. also, do most people here use ipod's? mine is dying a slow and painful death and i was wondering if there are better players than ipod's? |
Emyay
10.25.12 | i like ipods personally. got me the 250gb ipod classic. got a refurbished one bc i read a bunch of shit saying the refurbished ones are often better than the new ones because they go through more rigorous testing or some shit. i've had it for over a year now and its been great |
Nipple

10.25.12 | "do most people here use ipod's? mine is dying a slow and painful death and i was wondering if there are better players than ipod's?"
I use a Zune 80, and a year ago, I'd swear by it. But Microsoft has given up on the brand, so I can't in good faith recommend it anymore. |
bakkermaarten007
10.25.12 | "do most people here use ipod's? mine is dying a slow and painful death and i was wondering if there are better players than ipod's?"
Sony or Cowon if you want the best sound quality. iPod for ease of use.
I would love to have a Zune but yes, sadly they are discontinued. Check out the Zune HD, that was some player. |
Winrar
10.25.12 | "And what kind of information should I provide I'm not sure :("
Nothing too serious, it would be more helpful if you could provide:
Music Genres (i can lurk your charts)
Budget (you provided this)
how much you prioritise portability
how much you prioritise comfortability
Where you listen (train, gym, home)
Other uses: movies, games
Just basic stuff like that, can be really helpful for headphone recs.
you should be careful when buying headphones, audio quality is subjective and once you start spending hundreds of dollars on expensive headphones, it's best you make sure you get the pair that best suits you, not a pair that others find best.
