So You're New To Death Metal?

If you're new to, or haven't tried dm yet, here are some recs to get you going
1Death
Symbolic

One of the most well known and widely respected bands in death metal. This album serves as a great starting point because it is not as confronting as most other death metal is. The vocals are not as extreme as many other dm bands annd the intrumentation follows a more melodic and progressive style than usual.
2Cannibal Corpse
Kill

While most certainly not one of the genres best, Kill is quite accessible compared to, say, a None So Vile. This will get you started in the heavier section of deathmetal, as it did for me
3Be'lakor
Stone's Reach

For those that are into the more melodic and atmospheric genres, Stone's Reach will expose you to both the progressive/epic and melodic death metal styles. Recomended especially for those coming from the doom and metalcore scenes. Also recommended for it's melodic and epic feel is "Twilight of the Thunder God" by Amon Amarth
4Cynic
Focus

This album has been very influential in bands such as The Contortionist and Veil of Maya, fans of those bands that are looking for something else will be able to enjoy Cynic's precurser to much of the modern prog-core masterpiece
5Cryptopsy
None So Vile

Once you feel confident that you have a solid grasp and appreciation of death metal, you should then progress to none so vile. Easily the least accessible album on this list, None So Vile will show you the boundaries of brutality that music can reach. A must for any aspiring death metal-head
