Answer That and Stay Fashionable

I don't care about this album....at all.

Very Proud of Ya

The Secret Ninja owns. Love Is A Many-Splendored Thing owns. I just don't care enough for the rest. It's not bad, I just don't care.

Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes

Here is where the band gets put on the right track. I almost wish they debuted with this, but whatever. Davey is now angrier and the songs are executed as such. Plus we have a few punk gems here like "A Single Second" and "Third Season". Favorite Track: Triple Zero

Decemberunderground

Although I still love this record and everything about it, Sing The Sorrow was better, and makes AFI's attempt at creating a 2nd one a failed one. Plus the prelude and Miss Murder (at least 60% of the time) are just terrible. Gems do still exist, some of which exceed some moments on Sing The Sorrow and all of AFI like "The Interview". Plenty of other great tracks exist too, and besides the two I mentioned before, the record only has outstanding tracks. The complete package for some reason doesn't shine as bright as it could consistantly. When I'm in the mood for this album artound winter-time, it's practically a classic, but other than that it's STS's less successful brother. Favorite Track: Affliction

Crash Love

I believe this to be better than Decemberunderground because it really just flows a lot better. Also Decemberunderground will always be marked as an inferior Sing The Sorrow while this record stands on its own. The band made a departure into a more Alternative Rock genre and although different, the passion the band has is as strong as if not stronger than ever before evident through songs like "Cold Hands" and "It Was Mine". Sure some tracks were clearly not as good as others, but when it's good, oh boy is it good. Plus the deluxe edition is just...wow. Favorite Track: Okay, I Feel Better Now (infact this is probably my favorite song at the moment. It's truly a beauty in every sense of the word)

The Art of Drowning

AFI's last album before mainstream success, yet also the one that completely contributed to it. This album had to the power of the previous record, with a lot more of a melodic tone (despite "Smile" which is like the most hardcore song they've ever done). This was both a smooth and natural progression for the band. It really is one of the best album's I've ever heard. Favorite Track: Morningstar

Black Sails In The Sunset

This album introduced Jade Puget. Not only was he a perfect fit guitar-wise, but his song-writing skills were more than admirable. I've never felt such a blend of darkness and hardcore music before this. This is also the first album where Davey sang perfectly and wrote (although slightly inaudible) outstanding lyrics. Songs consist of "Through the darkness breaks the light, through the light unending pain" and less talk about mohawks and ny-quil. The amount of evident maturity is almost frightening. Favorite Track: Malleus Maleficarum

Sing The Sorrow

My favorite album. Period. This is where the band took it's first huge leap into a new direction, and boy did it pay off. Finding fault with this album is impossible. I guess I can credit this to being my faovirte record because it really is what I was looking for on my first hunt for music. I was hooked on Green Day and MCR and I wanted something simmilar to that, something emotional, something epic, and something that's still categorized as punk. This was just that and beyond. The perfect musicianship, the elegant lyrics. What more can someone ask for? Favorite Tack: The Great Dissapointment
