10.12.12 | ye, kubrick is amazing
what's with all those shitty albums though |
menawati
10.12.12 | eyes wide shut, not brilliant but the direction of the scene near the start where cruise and kidman have a argument in the hotel room makes it so believable |
nbaronzzi
10.12.12 | Everything about 2001 is a masterpiece, right down to the soundtrack. After seeing There Will Be Blood, I kind of get the impression that Paul Thomas Anderson picks up where Kubrick left off. Brilliant films. |
TheNotrap
10.12.12 | Yeah great director indeed.
A Clockwork Orange, The Shining and 2001: A Space Odyssey are my favs. |
GnFnRs87
10.12.12 | ilovetree: says these albums are shitty. Has GY!BE at 5. Opinion invalid
TheNotrap: I love The Shining, one of my personal favourites but not as good as ACO or 2001 though. Jack Nicholson is amazing in nearly everything he's in. |
TheNotrap
10.12.12 | "Jack Nicholson is amazing in nearly everything he's in."
That's a fact bro.
|
ADM20
10.12.12 | Yeah, he's my favorite filmmaker. A Clockwork Orange is my all time favorite movie. |
peaks40
10.12.12 | I haven't seen any of his films yet, they were on my list, but if hes anything like paul thomas anderson, he'll be like my favourite, love that kid a |
GnFnRs87
10.12.12 | Stanley Kubrick is unlike any other movie maker. Check him out peaks, you won't regret it.
Notrap: hell yeah man, you seen 'Chinatown'? |
peaks40
10.12.12 | chinatown by roman polanski? on my list also lol |
MisterTornado
10.12.12 | 1. 2001
2. Clockwork
3. Shining
4. Barry Lyndon
5. Eyes Wide Shut
6. Dr. Strangelove
7. Full Metal Jacket |
GnFnRs87
10.12.12 | Yeah peaks, it's by Roman Polanski and stars Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway. Nicholson plays a detective whose hired by Dunaway to investigate her husband's affairs. Film also had 11 Academy Award Nominations |
peaks40
10.12.12 | yeah i knew jack was in it, eyes wide shut was the one i wanted to watch first |
GnFnRs87
10.12.12 | You pervert, you. I joke- its probably one of his easiest to sit through but in terms of overall package you might be better starting with Full Metal Jacket, The Shining or A Clockwork Orange |
peaks40
10.13.12 | so, i rented eyes wide shut, gonna watch tonight |
WeepingBanana
10.13.12 | Clockwork isn't even close to his best but okay |
musicalgenius
10.13.12 | yeah i know |
peaks40
10.13.12 | your opinions? |
GnFnRs87
10.13.12 | WeepingBanana: your rank then ? Or are you a twat who doesn't like Kubrick ?? |
Kubrick
10.13.12 | Nice list!!
It's so close to call be I think 2001 is his best. I've seen it so many times though that it's kinda hard to watch it anymore.. but the first time through I was the most engrossed I've ever been watching a movie. Clockwork, Shining, and Barry Lyndon are all in the upper tier too. |
GnFnRs87
10.13.12 | Kubrick: that's an amazingly appropriate name so thanks for the compliment xD. You're right, it's so tough to call but I think Clockwork Orange is my favourite and raises the most questions about society, 2001 is the best visual spectacle and journey though |
WeepingBanana
10.14.12 | ha wow way to fly off the handle. i don't really have a set ranking but Dr. Strangelove and 2001 are wayyyyy better than Clockwork. i'd even say The Shining is better, but in a different way |
SGGreenman
10.14.12 | Agree hard on number 1. I think I'd have the shining higher though |
WashboardSuds
10.14.12 | seen lots of lists about him on here lately |
WeepingBanana
10.14.12 | anyone who doesn't think 2001 is his best seriously needs to learn how 2 movies |
GnFnRs87
10.14.12 | Sorry Weeping, I was drunk xD, opinion taken on board, personally I like the questions that Clockwork proposes about freedom and society. However that is a ridiculously generalised statement, in fact someone who disagrees with you probably does know movies. Means they've seen them all and formed an opinion rather than going along with what everyone else says |
WeepingBanana
10.14.12 | most people think Clockwork is his best movie but okay
and sorry if you need someone to explain to you that "i think that..." is implicit to everything i say |
SGGreenman
10.14.12 | I'll be honest I haven't seen 2001 yet (I know, I know, I need to see it), but I've seen all others outside of fear and desire and clockwork's the best. |
MeatSalad
10.14.12 | Agreed with 1 but 2 is the best album here |
someguest
10.14.12 | 20th Kubrick list in the past year. |
GnFnRs87
10.14.12 | Someguest you really need to get laid if you counted them all. There are so many Kubrick lists because he's a damn good filmmaker
MeatSalad: agreed, although 7 and 4 push it close in my opinion |
TMobotron
10.14.12 | I think Eyes Wide Shut is super underrated as far as his movies go. There's a great chilling ambiance through the whole thing, and the paranoia nearer to the end is captured so well. The scene where Cruise is being followed in the street is great, and the way all the scenes are set up visually is awesome too.
Definitely not his best but a fucking awesome movie. |
Ire
10.14.12 | so far clockwork is my fave kubrick
rules too hard |
GnFnRs87
10.14.12 | Eyes Wide Shut is a great movie, it's just not as great as some of his other stuff. Top (un-annoying) performance by Cruise too |
TMobotron
10.14.12 | I realize it isn't as great as some of his other stuff, I don't really disagree with where you ranked it either.
I think Cruise has had some great performance in other roles though. The Last Samurai for one was a fucking incredible movie. |
someguest
10.14.12 | "Someguest you really need to get laid if you counted them all. There are so many Kubrick lists because he's a damn good filmmaker"
you're the great deducer aren't ya |
Kubrick
10.14.12 | Cruise was awesome in Magnolia as well. |
GnFnRs87
10.14.12 | "you're the great deduced aren't ya"
Yeah actually.
I liked Cruise in Minority Report too |
WeepingBanana
10.14.12 | I liked cruise in battlefield earth |
