Mike08 09.26.12	Same principles apply to film. Unlike music though, I do have friends that LOVE film as much as I do. Film is less subjective than music, and people are engaged in film as an art more so than music.

ZilbelPing 09.26.12	My closest friends are really open to music so we share a lot within each other. If someone asks me for stuff, I usually ask what they like or look through their iPod and give recs based on that. It's funny, though. Quite a bit of people know I have a broad music taste so they come to me asking for stuff and I give it to them. It's kinda nice, actually. In the car we all take turns playing music so when I put something on, it's usually something they can get into. I mostly play a lot of indie, reggae, rock, and shorter post-rock songs and they more than usually dig it. It's kinda sweet being open about music with your friends. Hell, I've even got my mom into a few stuff.

YankeeDudel 09.27.12	Nah my friends and roommates like/liked good stuff but they just arent into much extreme metal. Not many people are. Ive come to find that people usually dig music much more if they discover it themselves than if somebody shows them it for some reason. I can show em a band and they'll be like "meh", but then a month later they'll stumble across them on their own and they fuckin love it. Its weird. I guess stuff that isnt 100% accessible with verse-chorus catchy structures just take time to grow on you. And its not even like its some crazy underground shit either.

sniper 09.27.12	i listened to metallica/anthrax/slayer when i was 12-13 and then listened to literally no metal at all for about 7 years and then started listening to black and death bands and now i listen to a healthy amount of extreme metal. i have one friend who is into exclusively death metal but all my other friends are into all kinds of indie/hipster bands or hip-hop. they all do have good taste though, i wasn't kidding.

sniper 09.27.12	radio country is awful don't even pretend it's not. my friends are all into minus the bear and kendrick lamar and animal collective and shit idk why you people's friends are so lame. the bay area has a lot of people like that in it though. i have a fair number of friends into good hardcore too, even one into emo/skram.

ViralOblivion 09.27.12	Pretty much me and my friends all love the same shit I like hip hop more than some of my closest friends but they like it too just not as much but my friends got me into bands like neurosis and converge and btbam and old darkest hour back when I was in junior high and we still all jam those bands all the time
sniper 09.27.12	my friends are probably what you'd call typical bay area hipster types. asian kids into hip hop, everyone else into alt/indie-rock and hip hop, a couple kids into hardcore, etc. we still get down to party music at parties y'know, but there's more to life than listening to radio pop. also, radio country fucking blows.
apert 09.27.12	all my friends just listen to the most generic mainstream rock like Muse, MCR and 30 seconds to Mars. A couple of guys even said they genuinely liked one direction. I jammed Machine Head once at school and it was not well received so i've pretty much given up hope on them
