Top Albums Of 1981 |
10 | | The Birthday Party Prayers on Fire
Don't like this stuff as much as Cave's stuff with the Bad Seeds. This album is sweet though. Kind of quirky, and noisy as all hell. Cave delivers on this album. |
9 | | Black Sabbath Mob Rules
This is a more solid release than Heaven and Hell, but it's not as good. The good songs don't have nearly as much impact as the good ones on Heaven and Hell, but there are more this time around. |
8 | | Venom Welcome to Hell
The cheese factor is through the roof, but I love this mostly for the nostalgia. Venom were one of the first metal bands I got in to and this album is way better than Black Metal. I typically consider this one of the first Thrash Metal albums released. |
7 | | Jaco Pastorius Word of Mouth
I don't like this as much as his self titled, but it's still fantastic. Pastorius was a genius. |
6 | | Black Flag Damaged
These guys were playing sludge before it was even a genre, and had incredible influence, but this is about the only Black Flag album I really like. Great piece of hardcore, noisy and at times hard to listen to. I want to have a TV Party. |
5 | | Iron Maiden Killers
This album had the potential to be higher but it's too inconsistent. The good songs on it are fantastic, but the bad ones are really bad. Not as good as their self titled. |
4 | | Rush Moving Pictures
Their most commercial album, you'd maybe expect it to not be so good as so many typically are. Not the case with this album. I usually look at this as their last rock album before they started with the stupid synth driven shit that dominated their 80's output. |
3 | | The Police Ghost in the Machine
Like I said earlier, every Police album is going to make it into my lists. I'd say this is maybe their weakest album, but it's still good. This year was a bit weak or else it probably wouldn't be this high. |
2 | | Frank Zappa You Are What You Is
Like I said earlier, every Police album is going to make it into my lists. I'd say this is maybe their weakest album, but it's still good. This year was a bit weak or else it probably wouldn't be this high. |
1 | | Frank Zappa Shutup N Play Yer Guitar
This 3 album set is fantastic. Great playing by Zappa but the real reason to listen if for Vinnie Colaiuta's drumming in what is often regarded the best drum performance ever recorded |
