Never Meant - Well damn. I'm 38, I know nothing of life, love, fucking, working,
falling, or music for that matter. But when I hear this, I think I know it all. I feel as
high as the sky, but as low as the core of the earth. Maybe I'm just a pussy, that
may very well be the case - but when I listen to this song, it's not just one, but
every, emotion that comes pouring out of my body. I can relate to the lyrics
strongly, which only strengthens the connection I share with this song.

Hounds of Love - Before I'd heard Kate Bush, I always used to find female singers
to be boring, and to lack the invigoration that often accompanied a male's voice.
This album, and particularly this song, completely warped my perception of female
vocalists. And fuck every time I hear "I found a fox, caught by dogs," I just think,
'Holy shit.' Honestly, those are the two best words to describe this song. There are
a shit-load of people who objectively listen to songs and then mentally dissect
them. Well they should sit the fuck back and just appreciate music, and especially

The Misshapen Steed - Beautiful. One of the very few songs that have ever given
me goosebumps. The desolated landscape this song depicts seems so desperate
and lost, yet so magnificent and glorious. It's one of those songs that, upon
listening, you realize how much more there is to the world than just you and your
trivial lives. (Then Hallways of Enchanted Ebony comes on and you go back to

Promise - Over the past few months you'll probably have seen me talking this album
up, or featuring it in many of my lists. It's not without reason. Promise is such a
track of contrast - it has this kind of emotional sadness and anger combined into
one (almost in the same way certain Screamo bands pull it off). It's hard to imagine
an instrumental song to be played with as much passion displayed in this song.
Maybe it's the seemingly hopeless calling of the guitars, further strengthened by
the incredibly eerie guitar tone, or the urgency of the drumming, or fuck it, the
whole song. Maybe I'm just fucking retarded. I'm more than likely just ranting, but
godammit listen to this fucking song and more importantly, FEEL IT.

Sit Resist
Master of Art - Finally, and upbeat song! Intensely emotional, or atmospheric songs
are generally the songs that would be featured in my top 10 - not because I
necessarily love all things sad, but because these kinds of songs strike closer to
home with me... If you get what I'm saying. Anyway, I'm pretty sure that this is my
most listened to song of the past 5 or so months since I first got into Laura. I
COULD LIE AND SAY TO YOU THAT THIS WOULD SOON BE OVER. Much unlike Kate
in Hounds of Love, Laura's voice is cute(sy) - which is not something I usually warm
to. But wow, does she pull it off well. She is undoubtedly one of my top 5 favorite
singers, and she absolutely tears shit up on Master of Art. Not all of the credit can
go to her though, the slightly murky production and the the instrumentation is
super (perhaps not technically, but it fucking sounds brilliant anyway).

Ancient Stones - I'm a sucker for songs that take you someplace else - songs that
can transport you to another world. This is another one of those spine-tinglers -
the first 22 seconds in particular. And Lakes if you fucking say Morrowind sountrack
is better than the Skyrim one, one more time I'm going to fucking assassinate you.
Perhaps it is, perhaps it isn't but this song is so fucking amazing it wipes its ass
with Paranoid Android (just kidding). Jeremy Soule is a true master-mind of the new
generation of Video Games. Whenever I listen to this, I feel like I'm in Canada, on
top of one of the mountains, staring out into the windy, yet unreal world that is

This song is just brilliant. There's not much to say it about. When I listen to it I feel
as though everything is perfect and nothing is wrong in the world. It's one of those
songs that are simple, yet amazing. There is a way, think I've found another day,
and its hidden deep in my heart. Oh I'm goin' back, find a place where I came from,
and I'm headin' here in my heart. I'm just rolling home again.

Split
Hand Me Downs - A lot of people make a fuss about Hideaways on this album,
which is a good song, but I found pales in comparison to the lesser known band on
the split, and their opening track - Hand Me Downs. The lyrics seem to touch on
the sad life of a man who lives and empty life - with no friends or relationship. The
raw emotion and aggression that is put on display here is pivotal to the songs
success. You can literally touch the emptiness (which is a good thing) ebbing from
the vocalists voice, especially during the invigorating chorus.

Old Pride
Cripple's Can't Shiver - Goosebumps creator #3/3. This intensely emotional song focuses on one of the band members father,
and how he, and his family, deal with
his fathers Multiple Sclerosis. The lyrics are heart-wrenching, and the execution is
near perfect. This song is so soul-crushing it's fucked up. I strongly advise against
listening to this before going to sleep, unless you the thought of mortality calms

Darkness, Oh Hell
Sad Stanley - a 7 minute epic, outlining Trophy Scar's ability to stir emotions even
after predominantly abandoning their post-hardcore outfit. The song is extremely
depressing, in a strange way. Much has been made of the singers unorthodox (lol)
voice, yet it really shines through on this song, especially during the chorus. Don't?
you recognize what you put in your mouth, it's the same fucked up shit every day.
