I don't think it has become more generic and predictable but that the structure of everything we create has been invented and we just jump from that structure but I don't think things are entirely unoriginal by any means. The problems is we've had decades of art and humans have to garnish inspiration from somewhere.

Looking into other genre doesn't solve the problem of per say metal dm or bm being stagnant. there's still some good music coming out nowadays but most people don't know how to find it.

Im kind of bored of the same ol shit and I dont know how people can listen to the same band 500 times. YankeeDudel 08.30.12	But yea electronic music does seem like the freshest genre to me. Alot of it is meh to me but some of it really sounds cool. You can make any sound known to man electronically. I still love a live band over some dude pressin buttons on stage, but I dont know where else music can go now other than just more sub-sub-subgenres. I made a list about this months ago asking what the future of music was, and nobody seemed to really know. We'll have to wait for someone to shake things up.

It's like complaining that all the numbers between 306583910000 and 306583920000 have been used up therefore all the other numbers are close to being used up too. Think of genres as styles that are being padded out. You can only pad things out so much but think of the possible amount of styles there could be.

YankeeDudel 08.30.12	Exactly Stranger. Bands should not have the mindset "We want to be a post-rock or death metal or hardcore or pop punk or (insert any genre) group". Because the second you do that you just become another derivative band in a sea of derivative bands. True artists should be trying to create something new. Something their own. Even if its just a small tweak.

My main point with this list is that I just feel like everybody is sort of settling in too much, there aren't these huge boundary pushes anymore like there were back in the past 4 decades. It's like, we advanced to this point, and now a lot of people don't want to advance anymore. That's all I was saying. Never said art is dead.
