I'm an atheist, so I guess you could say that I really dont believe that there is anything waiting for us in the afterlife but nothingness. Places like "Heaven" and "Hell" were invented to keep the uneducated and uncivilized inhabitants of early societies well behaved. A lot of people Human beings are afraid of Hell, the place of eternal torture and suffering. but a place like that doesn't exist. Feeling the sensation of pain is a physical experience, you have to be conscious to feel pain or emotions for that matter. Being dead is the body not being conscious at all. I think in death we merely seize to exist, no matter if we're good or bad, nothing awaits us on the other side. At least that's my theory. |

I know it's sort of a cliché, but "live life to the fullest" is the best course of action. I've had this perspective since I was very young. Both my grandparents have perished in the recent past, and some people in their funerals thought ill of me because I was the only one who didn't shed a single tear. I mean, I wasn't happy about it, but hey... they died from old age, it happens.
That said... didn't know the guy, but may he rest in peace. |

About ten days ago, one of my friends' best friend had gotten crushed by tree at a golf course, because of some massive storm that was uprooting trees all over the place. I had only met the guy twice, at parties, but it's just a shock to think I'll never meet him again. It's someone I just wished I kinda knew better, but never got the chance to.
Personally, I'm not afraid of my own death, but I'm afraid to think of how anyone close to me could be gone, even in the most unlikely of cases.

except we can explain death, we just dont know 100% for sure what happens after, although its likely nothing because as far as we know there is no such thing as consciousness without a brain. as far as we know our brain is where our consciousness comes from. fear of death is a survival instinct. death is seen negatively because it sucks when someone you know dies and it reminds ourselves how much we dont want to die. its as simple as that. also, there is an obsession with youth and nobody wants to accept death with dignity anymore, they like to live as long as possible regardless of the quality of life. they want quantity instead of quality. |
