auberginedreams 07.24.12	the one thing i noticed (it won't effect your review or anything) is that the volume on my ep is a little low for some reason. i'll try to fix that before i put it on bandcamp. it's funny because initially it was weirdly loud and i thought i got it just right, but now i have the opposite problem. if anyone knows how to fix this i would appreciate it. i know you can set the songs to automatically play at a louder volume in itunes, but that's kind of annoying to have to do.

auberginedreams 07.24.12	yeah it just sounds kind of amateurish when the volume is too low though. i was going for sort of a fuzzy/distorted/lo-fi (if that's a thing in electronic music lol) sound in most of these songs so that doesn't bother me, i just wish the stupid program wasn't so finicky about volume. even if you normalize it some songs end up way louder than others for some inexplicable reason. i wish there was a way to just raise the volume of the entire ep (like itunes does, but permanently, not just when you listen to it in itunes.)

Deviant. 07.24.12	'Beginning' still reminds me of the Halloween theme (not the famous piano line but all the backing synths), but now it's a cross between that and Fear Factory's 'A Therapy For Pain'
auberginedreams 07.24.12	@mindleviticus was it the ambient/drone one? i listened to most of it on your soundcloud page yesterday. it was pretty interesting, i don't know much about that genre tbh but it sounded well done. lots of cool textures. i was gonna leave a comment at certain parts that i liked but i've been busy and haven't gotten around to it :/ there was one part i liked a lot in either the second or third song that i need to search for again, the songs are really long so i can't remember where it was now lol. @deviant lol i'm not sure i hear it but i'll listen again. i've never heard that fear factory song. i think it's a pretty simple chord progression so it's probably been used before. the thing i like about that song is that iirc i did the backing synths in a minor key and the main melody in a major one. actually i wrote that song like a year ago so i can't remember right now but i think that's right haha.

mindleviticus 07.24.12	To be honest, it's pretty hard to make. I spent days trying to get the right sound for "Yes". It took a friggin' long time and it got me frustrated. In the song "Maybe" I recorded my dog snoring and then I fiddled with the effects and thats the really hazey sound in the background.

auberginedreams 07.24.12	haha that's awesome. i've never heard of anyone using a sample of a dog snoring. i never really work with samples since i'm a guitar player so i think that way, with melodies and chord progressions and stuff. i mess around on a keyboard until i find a melody i like and go from their. but the sampling thing is something i'd like to experiment with sometime.

auberginedreams 07.27.12	haha yeah my goal was to try and take a genre that i'm not normally a big fan of and fuse it with elements of genres that i do like. there's a lot of post-rock influence and some of the synth lines are based on metal riffs that i'd written in the past.

auberginedreams 07.28.12	k ovrot i finished listening to utrechtse krop. i think i might like it more than your other one. i'm still not huge on drone in general but it was a cool listen, i like the whole dark atmosphere you've got going on. the guitar on of marrow and flesh was a nice touch but the ending scared the crap out of me lol. i had the volume up too loud too late at night.
