07.12.12 | I feel like I haven't been giving each individual album the attention that it deserves, you know what I mean? There's too much music and too little time |
OriginalVayne
07.12.12 | You can never hvae enough MUDVAYNE |
Trebor.
07.12.12 | nah I like variety and I like having albums sitting in my itunes that are there for me when I'm ready ya know
I still give my top tier albums a lot of attention |
Blackbelt54
07.12.12 | yeah that's a good point |
Adabelle
07.12.12 | What Trebor said
Such a good feeling when you go back to stuff you didn't enjoy after one listen and find you love it too |
mindleviticus
07.12.12 | I have over twenty thousand songs in my itunes library... should probably get rid of some :P
|
YoYoMancuso
07.12.12 | i had 12k, got a new computer and only my songs purchased from the store transferred so now i'm at a comfortable 3,500 |

07.12.12 | I recently got a new job and I took about 10 gig of only music I had downloaded but I had hardly ever listened to and boy was I missing out on some great music. Keep downloading, you will listen to all that stuff eventually. My downloading comes in binges actually. I can download like 40gig in a short period of time say like 3 weeks but not download again for 6 months unless a favorite band has released a new record. That gives me the chance to listen to around 80% of what I download and of course, I won't like everything there so that increases the amount of attention I give the ones I love. The bad thing about this is when you get those bands that you can only like get after many listens which you dismiss after 3-4 listens. Some of these are lost for good. |
JackSparrow
07.12.12 | Ramshackle Glory! I had the pleasure of seeing them the other night in a sweaty, smokey basement, truly DIY |
KjSwantko
07.12.12 | I listen to prob 1-2 new albums a day on average; so yeah I'd say at least 10 per week for me. |
Blackbelt54
07.12.12 | Yeah benkim I know what you mean
And Jack I'm gonna try to see them in August I REALLY hope it works out |
benkim
07.12.12 | Some of that shit clicks for me even after 5 years though. I can't think of a better "hobby" in quotes because for me it is much more than just that than listening to music. |
eternium
07.12.12 | I think about this every single day. |
ILJ
07.12.12 | I've come to terms with the fact that I will never have enough music. Like Trebor said, there will always be music sitting on my computer that I haven't listened to that I can go to when I want something new. I also agree with what Adabelle said too.
Sometimes I'll stop downloading for a while and play catch-up with what I have, but other times I'll download so much that I'm simply overwhelmed. It just depends. |

07.12.12 | music rules |
JackSparrow
07.12.12 | It was supposed to be at a bar but it got moved to a residential home in the basement. Maybe you'll get lucky and you'll have that same experience. Either way, great performance |

07.12.12 | Sometimes I'll stop downloading for a while and play catch-up with what I have, but other times I'll download so much that I'm simply overwhelmed. It just depends.
Same thing here. Sometimes I'll forget what I downloaded and then a few weeks later I'll find it and listen to it after I've already downloaded a whole bunch of stuff |
Trebor.
07.12.12 | It's interesting to think how many albums you heard one or twice and ignored since that could become like 4.5 or 5 caliber in a few more listens
I know a few of my 5's were like 3.5s on first listen, but I think I somehow knew to keep going back to those records unlike others, so who knows |
Blackbelt54
07.12.12 | Yeah almost all of my 5's were "growers"
Some albums that are acclaimed that I don't like (i.e. Kid A) I always wonder if I would like if I listened to more |
evilford
07.12.12 | unless I would basically end up giving an album like a 1 or 1.5 I make it a point to try to listen 3 times. usually I find something to enjoy. if I can just tell it's a turd I'll probably only listen once. yeah a large portion of albums I now love had to grow on me.
there have been maybe 3 or 4 albums so horrible I couldn't even finish one listen. other than that I try to go back multiple times. |
Blackbelt54
07.12.12 | A good example for me is Lift Your Skinny Fists... I didn't like it too much (2.5) then a year later I listened to it a few times more and now it's a 5 |
HitlerIsTheBest
07.12.12 | about 1/4 of the music i have on my itunes has not been listened to. |
bloc
07.12.12 | I sometimes feel like I do have too much and the collection pretty much gets bigger daily. It comes to the point where I just have no idea what to listen to on some nights. |
wacknizzle
07.12.12 | I've been downloading a ton since yesterday. My hard drive has been full for months and it was a pain trying to figure out what to delete and shit when I would try to download something new. Then I finally got the damn Colors live dvd off my computer that took a whole month to download from demonoid a couple years back that was taking up 8 figgin gigabytes of space on my harddrive. Now I got tons of room, finally relief! |
jlech
07.12.12 | at least you are downloading good stuff. nice list |
MeatSalad
07.12.12 | Who cares if you download a ton of music? Just listen to it when you have the time, now's the time more than ever to get your download on since media sharing sites keep dying or getting purged. |
Blackbelt54
07.12.12 | Yeah I agree guys
And thanks jlech |
ThroneOfAgony
07.12.12 | I download a lot of shit a day, but don't listen to it until like weeks later lol
|
Sowing
07.12.12 | I don't appreciate music as much as I used to, and I blame it on my inability to stay content with one album for more than a week |
Blackbelt54
07.12.12 | ^ yeah I'd say it's made me a bit jaded sowing |
Blackbelt54
07.13.12 | dang, 1 and 11 will be playing near me on the same night. I actually might not be able to go to either, which might be a good thing since I wouldn't be able to pick |
bungy
07.13.12 | Nice list. I like it when I'm spoiled with too much music, but that jaded idgaf what I listen to feeling is icky |
auberginedreams
07.13.12 | i have a ton of stuff on my itunes i've never even listened too. i love sites like this because it introduces you to a lot of new music, but at the same time i think it's important to let new music have time to breathe and not rush it just to get to the next thing. |
Weesnaw
07.13.12 | Sometimes I'll stop downloading for a while and play catch-up with what I have, but other times I'll download so much that I'm simply overwhelmed. It just depends. [2]
exactly the same for me. right now i'm overwhelmed. there's like 50 albums in my library i haven't listened to yet, i feel like i should chill out on the downloads for a while |
Blackbelt54
07.13.12 | Thanks bungy yeah that jaded feeling isn't good
Auber and weesnaw yeah I agree |
Azazzel
07.13.12 | When you download too much music just based on ratings you can actually start to lose your personal taste and music identity. Am I listening to this because it's supposed to be good, do I even enjoy this or is it just a grower, I'll probably never find out because with all this other music I'm just going to move on to something else etc. |
sniper
07.13.12 | i slowed way down about a year ago and i listen to albums i download more times as a result. i can't speak for others, but
personally i find that i get more out of music when i take the time to really digest albums. this is the same reason i
stopped rating albums. the cycle of constantly downloading albums, listening to them once or twice, rating, and moving
on is tiresome and doesn't do justice to the artist or the listener. |
liledman
07.13.12 | "grower" "needs more listens" "not doing it justice"
self-control is all you need. having too much music on offer is not a bad thing. |
Blackbelt54
07.13.12 | Yeah sniper I might chill out with the ratings for a little while. I'm still going to download a lot, but I'm going to try to digest each album before moving on |
