auberginedreams 07.10.12	well i'm glad it's not lakes bad. i'm not that experienced with production but i've been practicing a good amount and i've improved a lot from when i first started. this one is actually almost a year old but it's probably my favorite so i uploaded it first, i'm working on a new one right now so i'll probably share it when i'm finished. anyone want to tell me what parts work and what parts need improvement?

Deviant. 07.10.12	I don't think most producers set out and go "okay, gonna make a dubstep tune" or "a drum & bass tune", but I don't think I've ever seen anyone make a tune and then ask others to see if they could tell him what it is, genre wise. That's just kinda strange

Pentagon 07.10.12	I liked the beginning but then all of a sudden the drums came in and the tempo changed and meh. It's pretty good though, and yeah the percussion is a bit annoying. Also you should have let it 'evolve' more, bringing more subtle changes in

auberginedreams 07.10.12	thanks to those who listened. @scoot that was really good, i liked the giles cory samples. i've only tried sampling like once so it's not something i'm very good at haha. @anarchistfish i made this on a macbook pro with logic express 9 and an m-audio keyrig 49. @asotamaki actually the levels are properly adjusted, i just added an overdrive plugin while mastering to give it a distorted effect, i thought it sounded cool tbh but i suppose i went a little bit overboard.

auberginedreams 07.11.12	thanks guys. drums are definitely my weak point, but i'll try to address the concerns about annoying and overly distorted drum samples in the future. @sp i play guitar/vocals and write lyrics and prefer it to instrumental electronic music tbh. i'm trying to put a band together but i'm doing this in the meantime since it's pretty hard to make "real" music with just one guy, whereas it's much more conceivable for a single person to make an electronic track and have it sound decent. @mindleviticus thanks that means a lot. i'll keep working on the percussion. @trebor purity ring is pretty awesome, you should definitely check them out. i just finished another song tonight, i'll probably share it tomorrow if anyone's interested. it's by far the most upbeat thing i've made or probably will make in the near future. i wanted to try something a little bit different so i hope it turned out okay.

auberginedreams 07.12.12	@sp i get what you're saying but it's easier to get semi-professional sound quality on an electronic track than to self-produce a song with live instruments and such (at least for me it is). i paid like $150 for a decent audio interface, and even then it's difficult to get a good guitar tone. plus i don't play/own a drumset, and i don't know any good drummers at the moment. that's always the hardest part of putting a band together in my experience, finding a decent drummer.

Aids 07.13.12	song was ok but the percussion is awful, doesn't fit in at all. without the unfitting percussion i'd give the song a 3 maybe. with it, 1.5-2. i still kind of hate you but nice effort, you've definitely got the potential to make some cool electronic music.

auberginedreams 07.22.12	yeah man i'd appreciate that. i definitely like some songs more than others, but i'm pretty happy with it as a whole. it's supposed to be a sort of instrumental concept album about undergoing some sort of personal/emotional struggle. the song names are sort of cues as to where you are in the story. obviously there are no lyrics so it's pretty open to interpretation.

It's really good." thanks, emotional is definitely what i was going for. i've dealt with depression and ocd/tourettes for a long time so this album was sort of a therapy session for me in a way. and yeah, i made it myself more or less. i didn't draw the picture of the samurai (it's an old japanese woodblock print of a samurai before committing seppuku) but i designed the layout and everything else. i had to have my brother help with learn how to use photoshop though haha.

It has 4 songs, they're all spacey drone ambient and 3 of them are well over 10 minutes long =) I made it because it was exciting.
