TheNotrap
06.29.12 | @Rock
Thanks man. Good news, "Stalingrad" deserves a review here.
@Shuyin
Thanks. The Devil's Resolve is a good album but it lacks some replay value, at least for me.
Thanks Chuck. |
omnipanzer
06.29.12 | great list, you actually made me care about Metal for a few minutes. ;^D |
ChuckyTruant
06.29.12 | Favorite Rush album Notrap? |
TheNotrap
06.29.12 | Hahaha thanks Omni. You know me, metal is my cup of tea.
@Chuck
I need to recheck all their work, specially Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures, but I think this work is different from their classic releases.
Ask me again in the next couple of months. |
ZedO
06.29.12 | oh, this list is so m/
nice list... |
ChuckyTruant
06.29.12 | Haha all right will do, and yeah the newer stuff is pretty different for sure. However, Clockwork Angels brought back that sort of epic prog feel they had going on back then. |
JamieTwort
06.29.12 | Nice list dude, lots of good stuff here. |
YUJOS
06.29.12 | Great list Notrap! Some very good releases here that i really like too! I would recommend you to check these two albums if you haven't already heard them. Lord Mantis - Perventor (sludge-black) and Pallbearer - Sorrow and Exctinction (sludge-doom). |
TheNotrap
06.29.12 | @JT
Thanks dude, I believe you will dig most of the classic and more prog stuff here.
@YUJOS
Thanks man! I know you dig most of the extreme metal releases here.
I'm not a huge sludge fanboy but I will definitely check Lord Mantis. |
Jethro42
06.29.12 | Havent heard the big majority of these. One thing I noticed lately, Notrap - Your English keeps on improving over time, so keep it up! |
TheNotrap
06.29.12 | Cheers Jethro.
Well this isn't your swimming pool, but if you wish check Circus Maximus. They're kinda a more song oriented version of Dream Theater, with better vocals (in my opinion).
Thanks. I do my best to improve my English. |
Jethro42
06.29.12 | Aight then, I'll keep an eye on Circus Maximus. Cheers bro. |
Dreamflight
06.29.12 | "Enjoyable music, but once again I feel the band failed to cross that thin line between competence and greatness."
No they didn't, this is like the best album ever. Nevertheless, this is a great list man, kudos. And do check Tyr's lots of great stuff there too. |
TheNotrap
06.29.12 | Thanks man.
Don't get me wrong, I respect the band and the album is good. But like WHBWH I fell like something is always missing in their ambitious music. It's just my opinion and I understand why people love this so much. |
Dreamflight
06.29.12 | Eheh no worries man. In fact I share your opinion towards WHBWH, but this one really hit me, idk how to explain, so yea I understand not everyone shares my views towards WS. |
FictionalFlames
06.29.12 | You need to check out Les Discrets 2012 album, imo it's better than Alcest. |
TheNotrap
06.29.12 | Will check it man, thanks for the rec. |
BirthRite
06.29.12 | no im not my wife you idiot darth

Turtlestlker
06.29.12 | Witch Mountain-Cauldron of the Wild |
Nagrarok
06.30.12 | Nice list Notrap, heard about 10 of these so far and they've all been enjoyable at least. Another bunch of these also seem worth listening to, so I'll be doing that. |
TheNotrap
06.30.12 | @BirthRite
Thanks man.
@Turtlestlker
Good call. I only need to check the last 2 songs on that album, thanks.

TheNotrap
07.18.12 | Hi man.
"I think the new Paradise Lost could be higher..."
List in no particular order.
Yes I know you don't dig extreme metal.
Check also 3 Inches of Blood and Sabaton (specially the Swedish version), I believe you'll dig these. |
KjSwantko
07.18.12 | "Also i want to check the new Circus Maximus album...it seems great"
Personally I liked the 2 previous ones better, but Nine is very solid. |
TheNotrap
07.18.12 | Yeah Nine is very cool, if you love their first releases you can't go wrong here.
If you wish check this Sabaton track:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fn-eSBAJIY0
Catchy stuff.
|
KjSwantko
07.18.12 | Trap did you ever check out Marco Sfogli? |
TheNotrap
07.18.12 | On my dig list, need to check it Kj.
I'll try to find the album's stream right now. |
TheNotrap
07.18.12 | Man I don't like to delete stuff, so once again please play nice. |
KjSwantko
07.18.12 | Sweet. I can't remember if you like instrumental guitar much or not, but yeah give it a spin. Totally class and uplifting. |
TheNotrap
07.18.12 | I really love the 80's shredding masters (Malmsteen, Vinnie Moore, MacAlpine,...) So I believe I'll dig it.
If you don't know don't miss Amogh Symphony - The Quantum Hack Code. Very good stuff. |
evilford
07.18.12 | you're sure a chill dude notrap. pos
nice list esp mesh |
KjSwantko
07.18.12 | Yeah I've heard Amogh, it's solid! Think I 3.5 or 4'd it. Marco isn't exactly a shredder; he's a lot more melodic, but yeah he'll melt strings occasionally too. Cheers. |
TheNotrap
07.18.12 | @Ford84prefect
Thanks man.
Yeah, Koloss is an impressive piece of work. One of their best albums imo.
@Kj
Yeah, but his technique is quite impressive... |
evilford
07.18.12 | honestly Koloss is prob my second favorite of theirs. so good |
TheNotrap
07.18.12 | Indeed. At the moment Koloss, Catch Thirtythree and DEI are my favourite Meshuggah.
Kidman and Haake's performances are insanely good on Koloss. |
evilford
07.18.12 | yeah it jams hard. still loving it. |
Jethro42
12.26.12 | 4 is excellent, I need to get 25 and 36. Good work on the list. |
