2012 Slacking

Rec me some more music from 2012. List is my top 10 of the year thus far.
1Hypno5e
Acid Mist Tomorrow

Stupid fucking band name, really great album.
2Sky Architects
The Promise of Tomorrow

Gorgeous post-rock/indie hybrid in the same vein of Maybeshewill and A Bunny's
Caravan.
3Zelienople
The World is a House on Fire

Mmmmm
4Ne Obliviscaris
Portal of I

Wholly entertaining to listen to despite a daunting runtime and some questionable
clean vocals.
5Dodecahedron
Dodecahedron

Band name makes me think of The Phantom Tollbooth; insta-top 5. Really solid
blackened death metal...deathened black metal?
6Sunpocrisy
Samaroid Dioramas

This is the year of metal bands with shitty fucking names releasing great fucking
albums. This is much less nerdy and pr0g than the band name/song-titles/album
art would have you think; it fits more into the post-metal/stoner genre.
7Nadja / Vampillia
The Primitive World

Some of the most haunting and beautiful soundscapes I've heard all year.
Gorgeous album to fall asleep to.
8Kayo Dot
Gamma Knife

Toby Driver & Company bringing the fucking growls back m/
9AtomA
Skylight

The production on this album is massively grandiose. /wordy
10Author & Punisher
Ursus Americanus

I've never been a huge industrial nor doom fan, but the way this album was
composed by sound-engineer Tristan Shone is fascinating, and feels much more
natural than it does gimmicky.
