InFiction 06.16.12	1 and 2 are pretty close in their quality, as are 5 and 6 in their shittiness.
Strider 06.16.12	I like 2 better than 1 and 4 better than 3 (I still can't get over the stupid "other deathstar" deal, and I hate Ewoks).

Polyethylene 06.16.12	1. Empire Strikes Back - bigger, bolder, better (best). Did everything A New Hope managed to and more. 2. A New Hope - not quite the top spot, but groundbreaking nonetheless. 3. The Phantom Menace - shut up, I'm a 90s kid. Hated by Star Wars purists, but I honestly enjoy it more than Return Of The Jedi. Jar Jar Binks really grates though. 4. Return Of The Jedi - oddly paced (the melancholy intro at Jabba's Palace lasts far too long), and several elements such as the Ewoks stick out awkwardly. Otherwise a classic. 5. Revenge Of The Sith - a CGI nightmare like its predecessor, but compelling and manages to seal the gap between the original trilogy and the prequels pretty darn convincingly. 6. Attack Of The Clones - let's just not talk about it.

III was easily the best of them imo, but it's still worlds away from any of the originals. I do love Return of the Jedi though. Anyone who says they don't get goosebumps when Darth Vader finally throws the emperor down that electrified shaft right as he's about to kill Luke is lying.

Athom 07.18.12	A New Hope is great. It, more so than any other of the other films in the trilogy (there are only 3 Star Wars films, the prequels are just George Lucas ruining a good thing), follows the classic archetype of the hero saga found all through the world. You can break it down and dissect it like you would something you read in a humanities class. All the characters, all the scenes, all the moods fit so well because of the influence of Joseph Campbell's work on Lucas.
evilford 07.18.12	well aren't you fancy jk, I see what you're saying. and yeah, I guess from that standpoint I would probably prefer empire to a new hope. It really does kind of fit right into a traditional mold. but, at least for me, A New Hope contains more memorable moments as far as what defines star wars to me, than all the rest of them combined. but for the reasons you have pointed out, I also love Empire just as much.
