Serious Weekend Digs
Some digs ive jammed quite alot this weekend. Iv'e heard some of
them before but never really apprecitated them until now, including
Aja by Steely dan, which is currently so close to a 5 its seriously
creeping out the top of my fingers. |
1 | | Nile In Their Darkened Shrines
Kind of an overlooked Nile gem, atleast for me. Ive always thought of AOTW
to be their best work but this is slowly creeping up to take its place. Great
production, nice variety and riffs. All you need. |
2 | | Sleeping at Last Yearbook - January
Kind of hard to describe my growing love for this band. Great cozy sort of
Indie Folk with many orchestrated pieces brings good variation. This
January album is part of a so called "Yearbook" where theyve made one
album for each month of the year, each one with a unique atmosphere.
Great, great stuff. Go check them all out. |
3 | | Nick Drake Five Leaves Left
A truly great and consistent composer. Im basically in love with every one of
his albums in one way or another, but this one is closely tied with Bryter
Layter for first place. Fuck me theres not a single bad song on this record. |
4 | | Steely Dan Aja
Beastly Album. One of my most cherished new-found gems. Superb
songwriting along with one of my favorite elements of the record. The
drumming. With contributions from Jeffe Porcaro and Steve Gadd among
others its hard not to like this as a drummer. Go listen god damnit! |
5 | | Chimp Spanner At the Dream's Edge
Started to get a bit tired of the self-titled Animals as Leaders(although its a
great record) so i accidentally stumbled upon this one as a recommendation
from a friend. Quite similar to the aforementioned band but ofc different in
many aspects aswell. Overall great stuff. Go check it out. |
6 | | Ozric Tentacles Erpland
As of recently, this is probably my favorite Ozric album. Not sure why, cause
theyre all great, but the album structure just feels a bit more solid on this
one, with less filler i guess. P/ |
7 | | Wilco The Whole Love
Not quite as good as Hotel Foxtrot but nonetheless a great addition to an
already splendid discography. |
8 | | Windir Likferd
Second album ive heard by these guys and it definitely didn't change my
mind about them. Still one of my favorite BM bands. Im stoked to look
through the rest of their discography, which would be Arntor and
Soknardalr in my case. |
9 | | Rush Counterparts
Trve P/ |
10 | | The Flower Kings The Sum of No Evil
Very Cozy P/ |
