Best Hip Hop/Rap Albums
This is real hip hop. Nothing too new on here, because this new stuff is just godawful. I kept it to rrrone album per artist. Honorable Mention: Immortal Technique - The Revolution Vol. 1; rrBlackStar rr- Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Starr; X-Clan - To The East, Blackwards; rScarface r- The Fix; rrGZA - Liquid Swords |
20 | | Jay-Z Reasonable Doubt
Such a shame to see how far he has deviated from this album. |
19 | | Snoop Dogg Doggystyle
Credit Dr. Dre for making this album what it is. |
18 | | Eminem The Marshall Mathers LP
I hate what Eminem has become, but this album is no joke. |
17 | | Ice Cube AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted
Those were the days. Ice Cube took gangsta rap and blended them with
social issues to make this classic. |
16 | | Chino XL Here to Save You All
Realistically speaking, this is kind of high, but it really is an amazing album. |
15 | | The Notorious B.I.G. Ready to Die
Biggie made Biggie, not the candy-ass who claims he did. |
14 | | Big L Lifestylez Ov Da Poor and Dangerous
Best punchline rapper ever. RIP. |
13 | | Run DMC Raising Hell
Who doesn't like Run DMC? |
12 | | Mos Def Black on Both Sides
A staple of any true hip hop fan. |
11 | | Jeru The Damaja The Sun Rises in the East
Probably the most underrated hip hop album (and rapper) ever. Having
Premier in your corner never hurts. |
10 | | Eric B and Rakim Paid in Full
This album inspired so many of the legends. Had to include. |
9 | | Dr. Dre The Chronic
Not the best rapper of all time, but his production expertise combined with
the guest rappers ensures a place on this list |
8 | | 2pac All Eyez on Me
People say 2pac was the greatest, and they're not far off. But above Chuck
D and Guru? Eh, nope. |
7 | | Pete Rock and CL Smooth Mecca and the Soul Brother
When they reminisce over you. |
6 | | Public Enemy Fear of a Black Planet
Public Enemy was the epitome of hip hop. I just wish the current generation
would follow in their footsteps. |
5 | | A Tribe Called Quest Midnight Marauders
Had a tough time picking between this and Lower End Theory. Both are
excellent. |
4 | | NWA Straight Outta Compton
"Gangsta" rap at its finest. Eazy, Ice Cube (before the sellout) and Dr. Dre
on the same album? Oh yes. |
3 | | Wu-Tang Clan Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
I can't say enough about this album. RZA at his finest, the trademark raw
Wu-Tang sound...RIP ODB. |
2 | | Nas Illmatic
Most people put this #1, but I don't. Then again, I'm just a moron with a laptop and an opinion. |
1 | | Gang Starr Daily Operation
I put this as #1 because I can't find one thing wrong with this album. This is
perfection |
