| Summer Reading List 2012
I did one of these last year and I managed to read 0 (ZERO) books that summer so I thought I'd do this again to hopefully keep from reading any nooks this summer. So ummm what the fuck y'all readin'? | | 1 | Bobby Bare Jr. The Terrible Sunrise
BOOK #1: The New Hate: A History of Fear and Loathing on the Populist Right by Arthur Goldwag -- currently like 60% thru w/ this one. It's a quality book bout anti-semitism, anti-masonry, etc. | | 2 | Bobby Bare Back in Huntsville Again
BOOK #2: A Tolerable Anarchy: Rebels, Reactionaries, and the Making of American Freedom by Jedediah Purdy -- I'm 30 or so pages through this one it's about freedom and the american dream and what it means and shit. | | 3 | Giant Sand Painted Bird
BOOK #3: Drood by Dan Simmons -- Got the audibile thing for this book and it's great. The narrator for it is awsome his Charles Dickens voice is amazing. | | 4 | Chelle Rose Browder Holler Boy
BOOK #4: A Dark Matter by Peter Straub -- Supposedly this Straub guy is like a less famous Stephen King; been writin' since the 70s, authored scores of books, many of which have been as long as the christian bible, So I was interested in checkin' his stuff out and decided to start off with this one even though it's not one of his most acclaimed works. I like the hook of it; Roshomon but with hippies and occultism, and so far (bout 40 pages in) it's good. | | 5 | Grant Lee Buffalo Fuzzy
BOOK# 5: The Descent by Jeff Long -- the comparisons to Ray Bradbury on the back and the price (3$$) got me to pick this one up. | | 6 | Wayne Hancock & Hank Williams III Juke Joint Jumpin'
BOOK #6: You Gotta Have Wa! by Robert Whiting -- it's about the history of baseball in Japan! haven't even purchased it yet | | 7 | Caitlin Rose Shanghai Cigarettes
Satan in America: The Devil We Know by W. Scott Poole -- haven't even purchased this one yet | | 8 | Ray Wylie Hubbard This Mornin' I Am Born Again
The Complete Drive-In by Joe R. Lansdale -- haven't even purchased this one yet | | 9 | 16 Horsepower Red Neck Reel
MOVEIES I'VE SEEN LATELY: The Avengers - it's good! - Dark Shadows - it sucks - Insidious - it's pretty good. | | 10 | Drag the River Mr. Crews
Totally forgot to mention this up there but Harry Crews passed away a month ago and he's one of those great american writers that's spent his entire career under the radar. I've got one of his books, A Feast of Snakes but I'm letting my brother borrow it right now so hopefully I can pick up another Crews book probably Car or Celebration | | 11 | Stonewall Jackson Leona
Movies I'm gonna watch one of these days: The Wicker Man and its 40 years later sequel The Wicker Tree (which is about Texans making asses of themselves in scotland -- Don't Mess With Texas, scotch Motherfuckers!) and the Chinese remake of the Coen bros. classic A Woman, A Gun & A Noodle Shop | | 12 | Band Song | |
