Suspyre tones back on this album, shifting emphasis somewhat from their symphonic and
neoclassical elements to jazz and prog rock influences. New drummer Gabe Marshall gives a
strong performance, though perhaps not as strong as Charley Zeleny's (Behold... The
Arctopus, Blotted Science, session drummer) on "When Time Fades...". Another notable lineup
change is the loss of guitarist and founding member Rich Skibinsky, though what effects this
had is harder to discern. Clay Barton gives as strong a vocal performance as ever, and
utilizes considerable diversity to help lend contrast to tracks like "Tranquility & Stress"
and "The Fire Dancer". While not quite as striking as "When Time Fades...", Suspyre's S/T
feels like a natural progression for the band and, tonally/sonically, sounds more organic. A
very solid prog-metal release.
