Review Summary: "Is this what you pray for?" If you prayed for another great deathcore album, then the boys from Australia delivered once again.

Oh what can be said about one of Australia's heaviest and best bands? It's kind of hard to think of something actually, since you can hardly hear yourself think when Signal The Firing Squad is tearing through your ear canals. Honestly I don't mind, especially when the music this band makes is as good and consistent as it is.

Unlike Earth Harvest, Abnegate begins without an introduction and gets straight into the heavy of the title track. Once again, a heavy use of blast beats and breakdowns can be heard throughout the album. What else is expected of a deathcore album, though? There are a bit more breakdowns on this album compared to their debut, but this is nothing to complain about since STFS can execute them in a manner that isn't repetitive and boring to listen to.

As some may have noticed, the band has changed vocalists since their last album. Nathan H. now takes over Kyson Shepherd's vocal duties, and delivers a very solid performance. In all honesty I did prefer Kyson's vocals mainly due to his higher screams and more frequent use of them, but Nathan does a fantastic job from the opening scream to the final growl. Ryan's drumming is phenomenal once more, which is no shock after the performance that was heard on the debut. Combine these things with some excellent guitar work that can get pretty intricate at times (Abominator), and voila! it's Abnegate.

In this day and age, all we can really ask for is that a band stays consistent without being repetitive. Signal The Firing Squad deliver exactly that on their sophomore album in a form of sheer heaviness that will make even the most skeptical of metal elitists want to head bang until their brain turns into a fine liquid and gray matter comes out of their ears.

I use to blare the breakdown on adapting to genocide at absurd volumes. Can't really stand 99% of deathcore anymore though.

Your review really doesn't tell me anything about sound of the album. If I hadn't heard the album, from your review all I'd know is that it has blast beats, breakdowns, and growls but not many high vocals. And you say the drumming is phenomenal and that the guitar work is sometimes excellent, but that doesn't really tell me anything. Also, album is pretty shit

didn't expect much out of this judging by the shitty band name, but this is sounding pretty tight. should be good music for the gym and lifting and shit

What a sentence, much more if regarding we're talking about Deathcore here.

Pos'd. Good review mate. Didnt go much into details, but you really get the stuff right. Now if anyone didnt listen to Earth Harvest before reading this, it might get confusing i guess.

They sound pretty original put next to your average deathcore band imo. I really believe that these guys are easily one of the most intense and relentless deathcore bands around right now.

This album in my opinion, Is Very, Very Heavy. I give it a 4. Im not a big fan of the instrumentals. They get on my nerves. But the album itself, I give it a 4. I cant get over how badass Abominator, Into the Mouth of the Leviathan, and Goddess of Retribution are. The drummer fucking tears it up. The vocals are a perfect combo of high and low. The guitar and bass work is very solid and intense. Good shit.
