Their second concert film to date, 2007's "The Roundhouse Tapes" is everything you would expect from an Opeth DVD, and so forth. The biggest thing you'll notice is that the band uses a more varied setlist (unlike Lamentations) that features some older songs like "When", "Face of Melinda", "Bleak" and "Demon of the Fall". And while these songs are performed in typical Opeth fashion, the mixing is a bit subdued (Mikael's voice ended up a bit higher than the instruments!!), which brings this down a bit. Not to mention, it kinda feels like Lamentations 2 considering the timing and release of the two films: They are three years apart, and shot in England.

A wondeful peformance of many of Opeth's best numbers with some hilarious bants inbetween. "I wonder if this would be the blowjob or the anal scene" - Mikael Åkerfeldt. In direct opposition to SupremeJelly, I thought Axe did a really good job with changing up the drumming, especially the jazzy drumming in Melinda. Åkerfeldt also performs some of his best geowling.

Mikael sounds great but is mixed too high. Drummer is normally fantastic, but not here. He takes on a noticeable amount of liberties from the original recordings for the worse. e.g. the Windowpane solo, the Blackwater Park intro, and worst of all: the awkwardly forced "swingy" drum parts. Overall, it's a very tense drum performance. rThe sloppy climax to Face of Melinda (that guitar riff at the ending heavier section is..awfully brash) and meh Windowpane performance due to the tense drumming and snail's pace tempo makes this hard to listen to front-to-back.

I love how you say that Bleak and Face of Melinda are the finest moments of their respective albums. Thats laughable. Bleak is a great song, but Face of Melinda is probably the dullest and most overrated song I've ever heard, and I love Opeth.
I personally havn't bought this yet, and I might not, I think the song selection is decent, but could've been better, but thats just my taste.
