Three 6 Mafia were so ahead of their time that the styles pioneered 20 years ago in this material are just coming into vogue now. The repetition, focus on atmospheric production over content, and stone-faced treatment of inherently ridiculous subjects are trademarks of the modern rap scene. This is Three 6 at their rawest and best, showing a mastery of hip hop minimalism that still hasn't been matched. It takes balls to make a song like "Sucks On Dick" before anyone else has done it. There's something elegant about the repetition, their restraint and sense of what's memorable.

Pure sonic bliss. Three 6's demented, stream-of-conscious rapping coupled with atmospheric, cloudy production makes for an enthralling listen. Three 6 fathered (well, more like grandfathered) the modern styles found in Soundcloud rap, mumble rap, and the more recent atmospheric trap that has rose to popularity since the early-mid 2010s. So many of these songs would sound new if released today, let alone at the time of their recording (1991-1993).
