Review Summary: Unhinged dissonant insanity.
I’ve never heard of any grind album, much less goregrind, sounding like this. But being unique doesn't necessarily mean good. One man band SikFuk brings things just together enough to make a truly off the walls album. I mean that in a quite literal sense.
Most of the riffs are so sloppy that it feels like the song’s about to fall apart any second. Instrumentally, it honestly reminds me if a band like Yowie decided to do grind. The guitar is very dissonant and off-putting and is going all over the place. Lots of noodling and a complete disregard for consistency, much less anything near time signatures.
The jagged and strange song structures keeps things varied, which is another daring step for a goregrind album. There’s strange but memorable riffs on just about every track.
Nik makes sure to remember his signature juvenile humor, just the album title alone is ridiculous. As for samples, it's a real mixed bag. Some of them are hilarious to make up for their overstayed welcome, some are bad but short, and a few are just bad and go for too long. A noticeable improvement is how Nik put his vocals more in the mix. Maybe I’ve just gotten used to his over the top brutal death toilet growls, but it makes the album easier to get into.
Plus, this album is just really fun to listen to. If you just vibe with the craziness of it all it’s a much more fun listen then taking it seriously. The album is called Teabagged at Birth for christs sake.
Usually the production is pretty clear (if not a bit hollow), but the only time that’s not the case is when blast beats are done over very fast chugging. It sounds like a bunch of noise, but it never lasts that long due to the song structures.
In short, it's fun, wild, and not meant to be serious at all. This is a great album for those who want to hear a different take on grind.
