A side project of guitarist Stone Gossard (Pearl Jam), Regan Hagar (Satchel, ex-Malfunkshun), Shawn Smith (Pigeonhed, Satchel), and Jeremy Toback, Brad is one of the lesser known bands of the 90s. Despite its connection with grunge, the band does not sound like the defining music of that scene. Instead, it has an avant-garde feel and many funk influences. Shame feels cathartic, relaxed, and emotive, with tracks originating from studio jam sessions. The album was released eighteen months after Ten but following such staggering success, Shame would struggle to be heard above such a colossal juggernaut.
