Review Summary: A surprisingly effective debut.
Eternal Ascent are a mix of Dragonland and neoclassical riffs ala Rhapsody of Fire. Masterful guitar work, with thunderous double bass kicks, and powerful, vibrato-heavy vocals ignite their indiscreet, assailing, and notably energetic metallic quest. The explosive sound production will either entertain, or seem fairly obnoxious depending on your comfort level with power metal - it’s a loud, brash album. Eternal Ascent are yet another generic power metal band among the sea of them, yet their shameless aggression and general skill give them a literal edge. As long as you’re ready to indulge yourself with some brazen cheese, Reclamation may look like a tasty morsel. They’re not winning points for originality, but it’s a damn solid album without much let up, especially for a debut. Entertaining? Definitely.
My recommendation: fans of power metal, check this one out.
