Review Summary: A great high potential band that gives me hope to a dead and dying scene.

In case you haven't heard of this band yet (which I'm sure you have not) I would classify them as a Rise-Core band, which I'm not sure if Rise have pick these dudes up yet. So all the questions you might have before walking into the midst of this band, I think the term "Rise-Core" will sum your answers up. But what I'm really going to do is compare this band to is a little band called "Issues." I have noticed that Sputnik has a soft spot for "Issues" and I'm gonna try to get One Last Look a good reputation since they're a young band with lots of potential and they're already a leap ahead of Issues when it comes to creativity and musicianship.

You can say Pretenders is actually a draw between Black Diamonds with about four tracks that are appetizing, but also has other things slowing them down, like the intro and outro on Black Diamonds. Pretenders very well has obstacles slowing them down, but they also have aspects that makes them a far better band than Issues. One Last Look has one strong point in their sound and that is energy. What you will find in this album are a lot of strong build ups and very explosive and entertaining breakdowns, and when they're not doing that they have very catchy choruses from a very good pop influenced clean singer. The clean vocalist doesn't have the talent as Tyler Carter but he sure as hell doesn't hurt the band at all. I say the vocals are a split 50/50 throughout the album each clean and unclean vocalist share the duties on the album and scores very well. My favorite part of the album might be the vocals, especially the screams. You will hear a great range with cringing low screams and decent mediums. Instrumentally the band scores average, a few chugs here and there but you will probably miss it due to the catchy synths scattered throughout the album and very proficient vocals that will probably steal your attention away.

I highly recommend this album to any Issues fan or a fan of that genre. I haven't been a fan of THAT genre in a long time, but this band really gives me hope to the whole Scene/Pop/Post-Hardcore genre. This album is all about hype and fun (like black Diamonds.) I would love to see this band progress in the future but I really can't see that happening from bands I've seen in the past, one great example would be "Crown The Empire." I know it might of been annoying of me comparing this band to Issues but I feel like their debut EPs were very similar but One Last Look knows how to compose a decent breakdown and brings much more energy and creativity to the table. So Tell me your thoughts on this band after you check them out and leave your comment below.
