3.6 great | SgtPepper EMERITUS | January 1st 14 | Have to disagree with Frip. It's much better than the dark side covers in my opinion. Some of the tracks have an Embryonic kind of vibe to them. A very 'LSD-infused' noise rock type of sound. and I think the rough-sounding/experimental production really works with their vision of 'In the court'. I do feel like they ruin the emotion behind some of the mellower tracks though. In "I talk to the wind" they kind of do the same thing that The Mars Volta did with Nick Drake's "Things behind the sun" - i.e. adding a lot of psychedelic effects to a song whose whole emotional impact relied on simple orchestration, but its still a really good cover. Admittedly the album is a little rough around the edges, sometimes it can be far too indulgent, but overall its a pretty entertaining psychedelic performance. at the very least its worth checking out for fans of either band.

4.0 excellent | praise jimmy EMERITUS | December 30th 13 | Ersatz shit for the 21st century. The only positive is that Moonchild is more bearable.
Just by a tiny bit.
Update as of 4/27: Damn, how wrong I was. This soundoff was made when I just started
listening to the Flips, but how I missed how good this was is beyond me. This is some good
shit.
