3.1 good | Erwann S. STAFF | November 15th 21 | A smooth funky soul record that is always pleasant but struggles to surpass the chill background atmosphere it offers - where are the hooks and melodies?!

3.5 great | CBYHASADHD | March 22nd 20 | Smooth, aloof, and subtly promiscuous, Syd, Matt and the rest of the rnb OF splinter group pull off a really solid record for airy, light listening.

3.5 great | Alabaster Jones | June 18th 17 | While the controversial Odd Future collective was known more for its lo-fi, drug-induced, and sometimes eerie take on hip-hop, the group had a couple of artists that made sexy and sublime neo-soul like Frank Ocean and of course The Internet. Ego Death, much like its predecessor Feel Good, is among the most underrated projects in the Odd Future canon, with it's rock solid slew of neo-soul tunes dabbling in alternative R&B, jazz, and funk and keeping an above-average quality throughout. The highlights are Sydney Bennett, otherwise known as Syd Tha Kyd, who's gorgeous and very sensual voice keep a firm hold of most all the tracks, and Patrick Paige II, who provides the bass of the record, which is a constant pleasure and gives the tracks a strong building block. Matt Martians' production is also a virtue giving everything a somewhat hazy, but still clean feel. As talented as anyone in Odd Future not named Frank Ocean or Earl Sweatshirt, hopefully The Internet keeps putting out new material.

4.0 excellent | Jared Floryan | September 8th 15 | Mindful, addictive, and smoking hot are just a few traits that I think best suit Ego Death. Clocking in at 56 minutes is an album that doesn't sweat any small details, and Syd the Kyd and Matt Martians definitely make a solid team. Hip hop soul project The Internet aren't really doing much wrong here. This is music that I can get lost to in a heartbeat.

3.5 great | aaronrkc | June 29th 15 | The last two albums had some good songs but at some point entered kind of a lull. The Internet is able to keep it much more lively on Ego Death.
