This EP contains the A-side track "Airbag" from OK Computer along with six other B-sides. This can be thought of an extension to Ok computer. The quality is almost as good.
**1** Airbag 5/5
If you've heard OK Computer already, you should probably recognize this song (yes itz the 1st track in it...). This track, according to Thom, is suppose to reflect how you've just missed having a car accident and realize how close it was to feel the incredible emotion of still being alive. Radiohead made this song with a drum loop based on a three second sample of Phil's drumming getting the influence from DJ shadow. Awesome beginning track.
**2** Pearly* 4/5
This is one of the favourite among fans. Pearly* has a great riff, and strange lyrics which meanings is still unknown. The guitar playing from Jonny Greenwood here is interesting, and an entrancing rhythm that seems typical of the OK Computer era. The near monotonous chorus, along with Thom doubling his own voice, sets up beautifully for the songs ending.
**3** Meeting in the Aisle 3.5/5
This instructmental track was used as as entrance song instead of "Fitter Happier"for the band's 1998 shows. This song has that weird ,alien-like, in space-like feeling to it. Totally weird, totally radiohead-ish song. The electronic sound along wit the pitch bendings surely makes this song more weird. Great song, gets me to sleep easily =)....in a good way.
**4** A Reminder 3/5
It starts with a slow intro with lots of weird stuff going on in the backround. The intro kinda sounds like a crowded room. Then it continues in a slow way with Thoms monotonous voice. Not bad, but i dont really like it that much. There are better radiohead b-sides out there.
**5** Polyethylene (Parts 1 & 2) 5/5
This song almost made it into Ok computer. Best song in the EP hands down. The song is separated into 2 parts. Part 1 is bascally a sad-sounding intro played with an acoustic guitar and sung beautifully by Yorke. Then the link to Part 2 starts to get intensely dramatic. The lyrics are great.
**6** Melatonin 2.5/5
Melatonin is a song that is driven heavily on synth. This has a yearning sound to it reminiscent of the end of "Street Spirit" I dont really get what the songs about though. Not that great IMO.
**7** Palo Alto 5/5
The standout track of the EP IMO. Palo Alto is a city home to many of America's large corporations. This song, from the start, sounds futuristic. The song starts of lesurely. Then suddenly, the guitars crash in, and after some very abrasive playing, the guitars pull back, leaving almost as quickly as they came, the bass then enters with a pleasant melody, and the song once again floats smoothly until the guitars come back again. "Palo Alto" is probably Radiohead's heaviest song.
In my opinion, if you have all 6 of Radioheads LP albums, then you should buy this EP. It features 7 songs and is not as expensive as COM LAG: 2+2=5. Then you would probably look into Iron Lung EP, Itch EP or com lag EP.
P.S : I just realized no one haf done a review on pulp's album yet OMG
