The Wise Guys were a Cologne-based a cappella group, fronted by lead songwriter Daniel „Dän“ Dickopf and arranger Edzard „Eddi“ Hüneke. Starting in the early 1990s as a student band, they released their debut album in 1994, but reached their height of fame in the late 2000s and early 2010s, receiving five gold certifications in total. Besides Dickopf and Hüneke, the best known line-up consisted of Marc „Sari“ Sahr, Clemens Tewinkel (replaced by tenor Nils Olfert in 2009) and bass voice Ferenc Husta (who served from 1995 to 2012). Musically, the band mixed a cappella with elements of popular music, including parodies of techno („Tekkno“) and hip hop (i.e. „Ich bin aus Hürth“), with mouth percussion and the absence of instruments as key elements.
