At this point in time, Bret McKenzie is known for various roles. He was first a part of the New Zealand funk/reggae party band, The Black Seeds. Then as an actor, he played the role of Figwit the elf in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring. More popular was his role as half of the folk parody comedy duo, Flight of the Conchords who have their own HBO series.
During the mid 2000's, Bret formed his alter ego known as Video Kid. He mixes analog sounds of electronica, reggae, pop, and dub in his guest-filled debut album, Prototype.
