UHLE (Sarah Uhle)

UHLE / Sarah Uhle Rock music has had its share of powerful female vocalists in its history, but that share is unfortunately few and far between in a male dominated genre. Still, when a unique and talented new voice appears, the sheer force of that talent will not be denied and rock fans do acknowledge when an artist brings something new to the table. Sarah Uhle (pronounced you-lee) recently graduated from the Berklee College of Music. She hails from New Mexico, but resides in California. She has been performing all her life with the encouragement and support of her family and friends. As a young girl, she performed in a group known as Cool Christian Kids, which included singing, dancing, and acting. For many years, she participated in church and school choirs as well as taking piano and voice lessons. In high school, her Concert Choir performed in many different places in California as well as singing the Mozart Requiem at Carnegie Hall. At Concordia University in Southern California, she sang with Concert Choir, performed in Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and harmonized with a contemporary Christian quartet, Acclaim. With Acclaim, she recorded, traveled, and performed throughout Arizona, California, and Washington. With Concert Choir, she toured California and many places in Central Europe including, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Austria, Slovakia, and Switzerland. Sarah also sang the National Anthem and performed with the dance team at Concordia. She worked on a demo with a producer in Northern California while singing and performing with various artists. Sarah was in a band called Daylight and played at various venues including The Paradise Rock Club, The Middle East Upstairs, O’Brien’s Pub, and All Asia. She worked on many recordings and performed significantly at Berklee. Her song “Good Enough” was one of the finalists in the rock/alternative category for the U.S. Songwriting Competition in 2006. She currently performs and records in Los Angeles and hopes to continue her music career for many years to come. Sarah Uhle is a force to be reckoned with. Her voice is powerful, but it is also versatile and dynamic. The versatility is clearly evident in her debut album (under the artist name "Uhle"), “Breaking Me Down”. The songs here represent not just rock, but also contemporary Pop, Alternative, and even a little blues thrown in for good measure. Uhle’s voice can range from whisper soft to peeling the paint off the wall with raw emotion. A special feature to “Breaking Me Down” is that Uhle, herself a fine songwriter, chose to collaborate with songwriters Dave Schweizer and Mark Lopez of Maple Bridge Music, to ensure well crafted songs that can be enjoyed in a variety of radio formats. The result is a work that ventures wide but always maintains a thread of familiarity that makes the journey adventurous and satisfying. « hide
