The Fifth Dawn was formed in Regina Saskatchewan in July of 2006 by Dan, Justin, Brent and Greg. The stylistic direction of the band unclear, they set out to writing right away. From this, the band’s signature song and sound were defined in A New Morning, a crushing song that showcases the bands progressive and death metal influences. In September of that year, the band added Ryan Haggerty to the mix, whose progressive style of bass playing added what was lacking. The band played three shows as a five piece until it was decided in early 2007 that they missing something, powerful clean vocals. The search was on. After several different vocalists attempted to fill the spot the band found JD, a friend of the band, was who they were searching for. The line-up was now complete and the band set out to writing more of the progressive death metal they were now well known for. Since then they have shared the stage with such bands as Unexpect, Amon Amarth, Into Eternity and Darkest Hour. The band’s first album, Awaken the Skies, is to be released in June of 2010. The album was recorded/mixed/mastered by Byron Chambers (Activate, Census Atlantis, Evan Chambers and the Third Alarm) at the Music Chambers from May 2007 to March 2010. It features seven tracks and showcases the bands knack for writing metal that is not only progressive in nature but accessible to any metal fan. « hide
