The Band Royale

The Fathers of Progressive Sci-Fi Yacht Metal. The Fathers of Progressive Sci-Fi Yacht Metal. Based in Chicago, city of mild winds, comfortable winters, and wet, hot American summers, Royale's sound has been described as "incredible, genre-bending, and essential in the Post-911 world." Royale was born out of love for big guitar riffs, an appreciation for the finer things, and a mutual obsession with science fiction, Royale blends the incredible slick rock of the late '70s, the spaced-out prog of the mid '70s, and a healthy dose of modern indie rock/metal. And they are able to sneak these things into their sound without scaring off the opposite sex. They like it heavy, soft, slick and spacey. If that sounds dirty, it should. Big guitars, big drums, big bass– all heart… SYKE!!! That sounds lame, and Royale is the opposite of lame (able-bodied). "Sci-Fi Yacht Metal" is what they're calling it. Their debut EP, '81, released towards the end of 2013. '81, along with their debut full-length, As Long as the Money Lasted, are both available now, the latter of which released on January 1st, 2015. « hide
