The members of two Southern California reggae bands got together to be Derrick Morgan's backing band during a live show. A
few years later, they were asked to record the music for one of his albums. That never did happen, but the members got
together anyway and formed the Aggrolites.
They took the name from the British slang word aggro, meaning tough which was used to describe the tough reggae of 60s
Britain. It also fit their sound.
That sound is extremely similar to late-60s reggae--truly Spirit of '69 skinhead reggae. Even Prince Buster said of them: It
reminded me of the old days, I cant believe that this young band from America could play my music just as good as the day it
was recorded.
