Sylosis are a forward thinking UK thrash metal/melodic death metal/progressive metal band. Hailing from Reading, Sylosis set out to createamodern, epicnew take on the oldschool thrash metal blueprint. The bands sound is comprised of fast, aggressive riffing, thunderousdrumming, intricate guitarlines, shredding solos, fierce vocals and haunting ambience. Unashamedly, there is also an abundanceof melodyand dynamics. Sylosis pridethemselves on notonly their heaviness but the attention to detail of their song-writing. Every song iscleverlycrafted into its own identity andstructured to perfection. So farthey have released two Ep's titled "The Suppreme Oppressor" and"CastingShadows". In 2008 the band was signed byNuclear Blast records and theyreleased their debut LP titled "Conclusion of an Age".On May 19th, 2010, Sylosis revealed through their Myspace blog that they had parted ways with vocalist Jamie Graham.[5] Insteadofreplacingthevocalist, Josh Middleton (lead guitar) took up vocal duties as well as playing lead. Sylosis entered the studio in 2010 torecordtheir second fulllengthstudio album entitled, "Edge of the Earth". Their words on the new album were as follows:“We’re extremely proud of the new material. We all know that these are our best songs to date and they are still evolving in the studio. It’saverydifferentvibe this time around. We’re pushing our producer [Scott Atkins] for a really raw and live sound. We’re making sure weknowwhen to loosen upand let abit more ‘feel’ creep in so it’s not as sterile.“The new album is definitely heavier and more progressive… although despite being heavier, it’s still more mature on everylevel.Weknowwe’restillevolving as a band and I’m surethe album after this one will be different again. These kind ofstatements can be worryingtothefans but we’reveryconfident and happy with what we’ve created and we knowwe’vetaken the high road!”On January 3rd, 2011, the band debuted both their new official website and a new song, entitled "Empyreal (Part 1)". Inaddition tothisnewsong, thesitecontains the albumartwork for "Edge of the Earth" along with the track names and runningtimes. On March 14th2011,"Edgeof the Earth" wasfinallyreleased. « hide
