Smash was one of the key groups in the development of progressive rock in Spain, along with Módulos and Màquina!. The band was led by multi-instrumentalist Gualberto García. The production of some singles was followed by the release of two albums: Glorieta de los lotos (1970) and We come to smash this time (1971). In 1971, flamenco singer Manuel Molina joined Smash and contributed to renovate the sound of the group. In 1978, Smash released Vanguardia y pureza del flamenco, a compilation which comprises the flamenco-oriented singles of this period, in opposition to the progressive rock sound of the first two albums. They disbanded in 1973. « hide
